So today Amazon bought Twitch, does this affect CCPs use of their site at all? |

Why would it?
What would CCP possibly have to say when this just happened?
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'Hodor'. |

At this stage it's ownership, not operational control.
Will be interesting to watch what happens, but I wouldn't imagine any short term impact on CCPs arrangement with twitch. Come Win At Eve - Join The Vendunari

Speaking as one myself, I sincerely hope so. Commercials are something I loathe with such intensity that English fails me to describe it. "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

That said; there is potential for Amazon to do something innovative here. They already sell and rent the copyright to music plus the whole Prime membership thing.
Not saying I'd want to see twitch turn into more of a commercial venture than it already is but when I see people dropping $1000s on stream donations it seems reasonable that accommodation could be made for the makers of music that support that stream.
Perhaps smaller, Indy artists could supply music into a stream library that streamers could use at low cost - mutual benefit.

Heh. Charging people directly for access or barrier-to-entry for non Prime members would be a sure fire way to sink twitch IMO.

Lets get some predictions going:
1. Amazon refuses to pay american ISP's who are keeping your bandwidth as hostage; stream quality plunders in the USA. - At the same time, Prime membership is required to have an ad-free experience at High or better quality 2. Transcoding becomes available to every stream due to the amount of computing power Amazon has - But copyright issues will lead to immediate closures of accounts instead of warnings - Increased occurrence of lawsuits when someone accidentally has Nicki Minaj as their ringtone and it goes off on a live show 3. Non-US viewers will be forgotten as no one cares about a billion potential customers, just like Amazon has done already. There is a reason why eBay is way bigger than Amazon in the EU. 4. Due to horrible stream quality, bad connectivity to rest of the world and horrible copyright enforcement Twitch will die and we all start using hitbox.tv 5. Amazon writes off the loss and sens all Twitch employees a bar of gold with their drones as an apology. |

My 0.2 ISK I woulda laughed had it not been so sad to read this. But, it typifies the purely lost mentality of this age - artists "supply" artwork for a "low-cost mutual benefit"....how very capitalistic. I'm moved. You'd have gone over big during the Rennaisance. I can imagine the convo with Mozart:
"Give us something in C. A bouncey C. And...put in a lot of drums. People love drums! Can you add some bass to that?"
Mozart: Loads large firearm. Anyone with any sense has already left town. |

While I agree with your point, the analogy is kind of not chosen right. A large percentage of what we call now "classical music" was made only when it was ordered by the monarchs or rich people of that time. Without significant financial support the music was just notes on a piece of paper. And I can imagine that exact conversation taking place, but instead of a large firearm, it would probably be something like "Yes, sire. As you wish, sire. Do you wish fireworks to go with it as well?" o.0 |

Artists were invited to court in accordance to their talents and allowed to compose as they saw fit. The only thing was, people had to like it. I'm sure you're thinking of a TV show, or some book of fiction you read, like maybe Game of Thrones. Anyone with any sense has already left town. |

Yeah Emperor Joseph II was well known for letting people do wtf they wanted.
"Like many of the "enlightened monarchs" of his time, Joseph was a lover and patron of the arts and is remembered as such. He was known as the "Musical King" and steered Austrian high culture towards a more Germanic orientation. He commissioned the German-language opera Die Entf++hrung aus dem Serail from Mozart. The young Ludwig van Beethoven was commissioned to write a funeral cantata for him, but it was not performed because of its technical difficulty."
