Well, we have the beautiful concept art, we have the bonuses, and we have the hardpoints.
Now there's one last issue to be taken care of: The model size.
The Scorpion and the Raven are TINY. The Scorp is the size of a battlecruiser...how does that make ANY sense at all? And the Raven is barely larger. It's pretty depressing to see your wingman fly past you and just dwarf your Scorpion with his Ferox.
I'd like to request that CCP please PLEASE PLEASE size the Rokh correctly, I'd say the same length as the Armageddon and Megathron. ------------------ Originally by: kieron Buy ISK for RL cash here!

Edited by: Kyguard on 26/07/2006 04:13:08 It makes sense to have them tiny. Caldari are the masters of electronics and engineering - they are pure warships. This would also imply imo that they are efficient and thus don't need the extra chambers devoted to god, cosmetics, hate-amarr mess halls that the other races have
I'm not privvy on my prime fiction, so I may be wrong a bit.
Edit: Forgot to add, if the Scorp is the size of a BC (which I don't believe it is :s) then that is just messed up. ===

Isn't it a Caldari thing to be small and efficient, from the backstory?
I vote no, it's cute and adds immersion for caldari to have the smaller ships.
If anything resize ferox.

On an only slightly related note, I was bumping ships in Jita at gates and at moon 4, Caldari Navy Assembly with my machariel, and realized it was as big as the freighters I was ramming.
This useless post brought to you by my utter lack of anything better to do at the moment. -Wrayeth

The concept art leaves me confident that the Rokh will be nice and long.
However, people saying the Scorp and Raven are fine can eat it. They're TOO SMALL for battleships; the Scorp looks more fragile than the Moa or Ferox, FFS. Both the Raven and Ferox need to be made a good bit larger to preserve the scale correctly. --- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?...
Plays "Amarii Oulasangeri" ingame. No longer plays Andre Ricard (sold). |

well. The caldari ships do look patheticly small, as is pretty nicely supported by the backstory. Efficient and advanced... the problem with all this is that they have the biggest sig radius and mass of all ships of course. They are increadibly big for their size...heh

No, it really doesn't.

I imagine ALL of that stuff accounts for maybe one tenth of a percent of an Amarr/Gallente/whatever ship's volume. It certainly doesn't account for the difference.
Furthermore, if these "justifications" were legitimate, then ALL the Caldari ships should be small, instead of just the battleships and carriers.
I'm not privvy on my prime fiction, so I may be wrong a bit.
Originally by: Kyguard Edit: Forgot to add, if the Scorp is the size of a BC (which I don't believe it is :s) then that is just messed up.
The Scorp is about 5% larger than the Ferox, as you can see here. Originally by: Miels Isn't it a Caldari thing to be small and efficient, from the backstory?
No.
Originally by: Miels I vote no, it's cute and adds immersion for caldari to have the smaller ships.
Warships aren't supposed to be cute, and it doesn't add immersion in any way to see a "battleship" dwarfed by a battlecruiser, especially when, as I've said, the rest of the Caldari ships aren't particularly small.
Originally by: Miels If anything resize ferox.
It's almost exactly the same size as the other three battlecruisers, I'd say it's just fine.
Originally by: Anpi well. The caldari ships do look patheticly small, as is pretty nicely supported by the backstory. Efficient and advanced...
"Efficient" does not mean "tiny", I really don't know where people get this idea.
Originally by: Weirda caldari frigate are pretty much bigger then minnie cruiser... and their cruiser are big too... just their BS are small.
Actually, Caldari frigates are about the same size as Amarr and Gallente frigates...Minmatar just have extra-small frigates and cruisers. The Caldari cruisers ARE a bit large, though. ------------------ Originally by: kieron Buy ISK for RL cash here!

I agree with Nikolai. If Caldari ships have to be heavy and slow with a huge sig radius, then surely the ship models should be larger. TBH, I have issues with the scale of many ship models relative to one another and I hope it will be addressed with the new graphics engine.
On the bright side, you were right about CCP actually giving us 8 turrets on the Rokh! Finally, a shield tanking, turret toting battleship! The "Steampunk Pain Train" is almost here!

Hah, keep the Rokh about 1.5 size of the Raven.
I like my Scorpion to be small. It's a good feeling when I engage an Apoc and I know that despite his size, he is trembling in fear of my jamming capabilities :-))) ------------------------------ at least fit ECCM before you start crying how overpowered ECM is. |

Look, keep the Scorpion small, I've always insisted it's not a real battleship anyway (real battleships don't have dual Ewar bonuses, the Scorp is just a support ship), but the Rokh should be as big as the Armageddon/Megathron. ------------------ Originally by: kieron Buy ISK for RL cash here!

Considering the caldari carrier is the same size of the apoc, it would be ridiculous if the tiers 3 BS is longer than the carrier capital ship
Or resize them both ?...

Since caldari are capitalists, and because the workers at the BS'es aren't member of any union, they cut crew space so much that the ships got smaller so they could save money

The first time I pulled up beside a Chimera, I thought "Wow! What an incredible ship, what the hell is it, I should know this... it has to be caldari but,"
Then I checked it. I was quite dejected by how tiny it was. It's a capital ship for crying out loud.
