To you all, congratulations. It was a fantastic event, amde so by the participation of 40 fantastic teams, regardless of the fact that some may have been perceived as more fantastic than others.
To those that turned up and played I offer my applause, especially to those knowing they may not have a great chance of getting extremely far. Big props also go to ISS and POS for fielding a team in a pvp enviroment, when they are both known primarily for other aspects of the game.
Also a huge thank you goes to Morsus Mihi, who not only did very very well in regards to their progression in the event, but took the whole initial misunderstanding and eventual joking about their status as RPers and LARPers with good humour. It is important to note that they are NOT an RP alliance, though they have from time to time been known to watch a Star Trek DVD.
Congratulations go of course to all teams that made it to the Sunday, and especially ASCN, MC, IAC and of course the victors BOB, who can now adda nother mothership to their growing pile of as-yet-unused capitals.
A cheer also for Pure who obviously had issues fielding a team, but turned up in an AF for at least a fight - it was gtood to see you there
To those that didnt turn up, and/or dropped out, let us not name names, we know who you are, and some of you may have even had valid reasons. It's a pity it happened, but rest assured next time you'll be ~1bn out of pocket if you try that again.
thanks to all, see you next time

Thanks back to the EVE-TV crew and CCP for putting together this fantastic event and them making it available to everyone in real time. The tournament would be a tiny fraction of its self if we had to read about the results the next day on the web. Keep up the great work!

Thanks goes to Eve Radio and CCP for EVE-TV and the Tournament. You guys have broken virgin terrority with ingame live broadcast of game events in a MMORG. This appears to be a first in the industry and this event will send shock waves through the entire gaming world. EVE can say they are leaders in the MMORG genre.
Thanks to all corps who provided your ships and isk for our entertainment. This felt like a Superbowl event.
Lets do this again.

I loved the eve-tv broadcast. more of this please. When will we see eve-tv reporting live from gatecamps and fleet battles around the galaxy? :-D With the new ingame voice client we can even get live interview of random pirate victim #138. That would be good TV :-D Oh , and get the dev team to make you a new client that show how many and what type of drone each player targeted have deployed. (hell , make that in our standard client). The long tank fights would have been a lot more fun then.

Yes, RL comes first.. But what about the RL of the thousands of people sitting in front of a computer waiting to watch a fight (for Aussies, we were up at 2am for the fights, only to find out people were no shows).
This is not aimed at IRON btw. But it certainly is aimed at some of the other participants

Props to the people who organized the event. This format was much more interesting than the last.
Props to the people who brought us EVE TV. That just rocked. I couldn't believe the amount of time I spent watching "TV" relating to a game...but it definitely added something special to following the tournament that was not present for the previous tournament. Being able to just listen to commentary on EVE Radio wasn't that great. The telecast should be commended for how good it was for a first run. I didn't think that some of the "color commentators" that sat on the "couch" added much value and I felt they were a little too partisan for that forum, but whatever. It was easy enough to ignore them.
The whole Morsus Mihi "RP/LARP" thing was a little amusing...a very little.
Props to the Morsus Mihi team for doing the alliance proud. We weren't the richest...the losses hurt...we didn't have everyone fitted with pirate implants, etc...but I think we got the most out of what we brought to the table. A bad break vs. IAC ended it all too quickly...heheh.
Mad props to BoB for yet again proving they are the best at what they do. Overcoming adversity at a crucial time and seemingly always having everything squared away and under control yet again is amazing. I thought you guys were done for when the scimitar dropped. Silly me.
A shout-out goes out to The SUdden Death Squad Alliance. I thought it was interesting that we have been fighting tooth and nail in Nalvula and also got pitted against each other in group play. Good fights in both arenas, guys.
Zero props for people who signed up but didn't show up. It was hard to believe that BoB was actually only fighting their third match when we got to the elimination rounds. Frankly, they probably would have spenaked everyone anyway, but they certainly should have had to work for it, in my view. I'm sure they would have preferred to blow more stuff up, too. Zero props for people who threw matches in the hope of getting better match ups later on...or for whatever reason they didn't give matches their all. Zero props to those "alliances" that didn't even bother (you know who you are and frankly, you sohuld be ashamed). Zero props for alliances that were created just for the tournament. You may have been skilled pilots, but the premise of your existance was bogus in my view.
All in all...an entertaining tournament. I'm looking forward to the next one...even if it does, in the end, always seem to just toss another mothership to BoB...lol.

Much respect, adulation and whatnot for all involved that helped making this an event that sets EVE apart from the rest.
from 3FA: Hats off to NORAD, Goons, OXIDE and MC.

But yeah. Kickass job @ the commentators and experts. I just hope we entertained, and I hope everyone else had fun.
And to second MM's comments; It's fun for us poor people to play along and see how long we can take it. Faction battleships? Pirate implants? Bah. next time. Maybe.

I sat there and thought that we needed more info on screen too.
But then I realised that info like the above, and quite a few other nice to haves, would be an immense help to the opposing team.
To Spiraljunkie and crew: Most excellent job. A little less reruns of the pre prods and an expert to assist the two motormouths would have been nice, but nothing can really take anything away from the fact that this was groundbreaking and utterly cool.

On the Eos I flew on the match remedial podded me (with smartbombs) I used this setup:
4x NOS, 2x remote armor reps, cap transfer MWD, 2x cap rechargers, web, injector w/ 800s 2x MAR, damage control, EANM, explosive hardener
Everyhing tech 2 or best named in case that's better. Unfortunately I can't use gang mods, and we don't have a single pilot in GS who can use them and a fleet command as far as I know.

Thanks. I simply don't know enough about command ships to know if it's worth going for damage, tank, logistics or going for gang mods. I'm hoping to learn a bit from what the command ship setups are.

As the eos has a sizeable drone bay, it's pretty much the only fleet command that's viable as a combat ship.
Using 3 high slots for gang mods and the others for nos is a pretty good option in pvp, as you still have 5 heavies or sentries to do your damage.
If you're amarr or minmatar, using an absolution or a sleipnir with a full rack of guns and one gang module is probably your best bet if you're planning on actually fighting with the ship.

Yeah you guys did a really great job (a few slip ups, but nothing drastic, bound to happen) and I personally enjoyed it as undoubtably many, many others have.
As for continuing on, I hope CCP does put it on again. Reason being is the promotional aspect. I went into an internet gaming place which was flooded with WoW players and sparked up media player to watch it. Within about an hour almost all the WoW players were huddled over my screen asking questions about this neat game! Relatively low cost advertising all things considered.
One question though (I am assuming you were the one in the chair) - did Stavros smell funny or something? I don't think he changed his jeans (the last 2 days for sure) and Ifni's comment (plus the look on his face) regarding having to bunk with him kind of tipped it off. Maybe you should take Stavros out wardrobe shopping next time...
Props to our guys for tanking BoB and BoB for the win in the end. Real good entertainment.

Excellent coverage and tournament all round, though I stick with my comments that some of the experts weren't, erm, expert enough, and the commentators could do with flying / participating in more PvP OR do what the sports commentators do and get a / some "real" experts on there.

People seem to know about my PVP experience all too well
Easy enough to say when your watching it. Not so easy when you're sitting behind the mic. We made do with what we had to work with and in the case I am chosen to do this again, there will be a lot I would add to help make us more effective.
Regardless of what you may or may not consider an "expert", there is always going to be someone who will disagree with you in this game. I will be the first to say that I had things come out of my mouth that left me saying "WTF did I just say?!". I dealt with it and moved on.
I too stick to my comments as well - Just because you consider yourself some kind of "PVP Expert", doesn't mean you will make a stellar commentator. While experience does help - you are only as good as the information you have to work with. So please, save your comparions to "professional" sports broadcasts. http://www.eve-radio.com |

I think you're taking the constructive criticism a bit harshly there DJ Xod. What I think it would benefit from is someone that could speak before the matches about the specific ships fielded. A third commentator. Either that or allow you guys a few minutes before it, so you can say 'Well, they've fielded a Huginn, which is interesting, that will stop the other team getting in blaster range' that type of thing. As it stood it went to the commentators and right into the battle.
Nobody is saying you did a bad job. Or even a mediocre job. I enjoyed the whole tournament, and I thought the match commentators did a great job, I'm a bit gabby, but I think I'd struggle to commentate on some of the deadlocked matches that you guys managed to keep going on.

There was a thread on suggestions to the commentators which I read and found very constructive (especially TseTse's post). Got a lot of mails with praise and suggestions as well. Those were much appreciated and duly noted.
It's these "you need more PVP experience" or "that sucked" or "you know in professional sports they....". Those aren't constructive comments. I agree that there should have been longer intro times to the matches, but keep in mind that we were on a pretty tight schedule. If you review the first weekend you will note that we cut straight to the action and the countdown started. The following weekend I managed to get about a minutes time to cram in and I did my best to try and write some kind of intro (The crew can attest to that). You might also want to note that we had no idea who or what ships were going to be in the next match, so it was a crapshoot as to what we were in for each and every time. Not to mention the restarting of the client after every match then wating on the sometimes straggling teams to get themselves sorted. Various things behind the scenes that people didn't see.
I'm totally open to suggestions. I asked for a lot of things in this past tourney and I didn't get 85% of them. Feel free to EVEmail me though and I will pass them onto the production staff. http://www.eve-radio.com |

Nothing particulary special from my side of things
Sivona - Full Grade Crystal set, +5% medium projectile implant, +5% shield capacity +3% ROF implant, siege warfare mindlink
Vulture - 4 x arby heavy launchers (not enough cpu for T2), 3 x shield gang warfare mods EM Hard II, Large shield boost II, medium electrochemical cap injector, PWNAGE target painter, 2 x Invul II Internal forcefield damage control, 2 x pdu II, 1 x BCU II
5 x light shield maint drones
Produces about 105 DPS IIRC
Sleipnir - 7 x 720 II, 1 x shield harmonizing gang mod 2 x invul II, PWNAGE target paint, Large shield boost II, medium electrochemical cap booster Internal Forcefield damage control, 2 x rcu II, 2 x gyro II 3 x medium shield maint drones, 2 x light shield maint drones
At 40km down produces a reliable 330 DPS
Claymore - wasn't actually fielded, lacked range to create real damage, needed T2 ammo or autocannons.
5 x 650 II, 3 x shield warfare gang mods Large boost II, medium electrochemical cap injector, PWNAGE target paint, shield amp, 2 x invul II's 1 x internal forcefield, 1 x rcu II, 2 x gyro II 3 x medium shield maint drones, 2 x small shield maint drones
Produced only 120 dps at 50km rising to 200 at 24km
The absolution/damnation was never really viable for a shield tanked team so i never bothered working out tournament setups for them, the vulture we discarded due to lack of damage/gangmods/tank and i cant fly gallente command ships :/
