Shortly after wormholes came to the game, a dev (CCP Dropbear ?) made a comment that there was 'content' ready to be added to the game, but it depended on capsuleers 'discovering' certain un-named things in the game in in order to trigger the additional content.
I asked about this some time later in a forum post , but never received an answer from CCP.
I ended up taking a year-long sabbatical from the game, and having been back for a while now, I can't see where the situation has changed regarding this particular thing, so I will ask the question again:
Does the 'hidden', undiscovered content still exist in the game, waiting to be properly interacted with, or has that concept been abandoned with the departure of the dev who was working on it?
Thanks in advance for a definitive answer from a CCP dev.

well, there are new c-ck ring type structures around jump gates. When interpreting CCP correctly this could have very well been those "hidden, undiscovered content" you are referring too. I mean, after the patch with the new c-ck rings would have been introduced, it would be still hidden and undisclosed until the first guy jumped into a system that had them. I strongly believe that this is how CCP refers to "hidden undiscovered content". |

Since content in EVE is mostly player generated, "hidden content" is likely just CCP code for: Suprise butt secks. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'Hodor'. |

To answer directly, since I was following the same path years back (since the whole storyline and discussion wen active), it looks like the storyline has been abandoned.
Why I think it's abandoned? Well, there were some containers in the W-Space site called "The Mirror" which could not be opened. The whole storyline, when it was active, revolved around two sites: "Oruze Osobnyk" and "The Mirror". As far as I know, "Oruze Osobnyk" was decyphered by the community at that time (3-4 years ago), but The Mirror, its meaning, purpose and those containers that could not be opened directly were left as a mystery.
I have checked The Mirror earlier this year and I noticed that the containers were no longer there (they are not seeded with the complex any more). o.0 |

My memory is failing me on the exact comments, but this was brought up at the 2013 Fanfest Wormhole round table.
In short the narrative was supposed to be continued, but after Apoc. teams were shuffled, people left CCP and wormholes fell foul of the same slow narrative the rest of the game has. Hidden content was asked about, but the devs that were there didn't know anything about it and said they were fairly sure the players 'know' everything about WH space currently.
I'm 99% sure it was Dropbear, but there was someone who handled the narrative for wormholes and had big plans for it. They no longer work at CCP though.
You need to keep in mind the devs who currently work on wormholes are different to the ones when Apoc. was released. Anything that needed 'activating' on CCPs side is almost certainly dead. |

So as much as I know is as useless as the rest of the information, but it alluded to pod pilots discovering how to open wormholes themselves.
Assumed it was not followed up on causing me to lose all interest in scanning and discovery type operations.
I have to believe that this content will eventually be released as player built gates. Where will they lead to? Can't be k-space as that's just terribly bad an idea. 9000 gates to jita two seconds later is the result of that.
To wormholes? Probably the best use of current systems.
To new space where sov is unpossible sounds lovely but without agents and stations, going to be the biggest over nerf of something since the removal of area effect doomsday however, it will affect everyone, not just the elite Titan pilots
So like you, I'm left guessing (probably wildly) in the hope that there are more levels to this game than PVP and PVE (meta gaming is not interesting or different level either. It's a practice of fools with too much time and not enough desire for entertainment). *signature is not allowed on the EVE Online forums* |

Drop Bear took all his 'plots' with him when he left, so all his storylines he was running died a very sudden death. Players just kept CPR going for a long time making it seem they had a chance.

There have been a good many logical responses that the 'plot' was dropped when the particular dev responsible left CCP, but as I requested in the OP, it would be nice for a definitive response from CCP directly.

If you don't get a response in this thread from a dev, I'd advise you to join https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Arek'Jaalan:_Mailing_List_Archive
as this is the most hardcore role-playing group that follows the whole plot and the whole project was started by CCP. If any new situation development would be made, this mailing list would know first.
While you wait, you can visit the project's headquarters in Eram system (Minmatar highsec). You can find some pretty interesting stuff there. Also: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Arek'Jaalan

There was also a big discrepancy between what players actually measured ingame (all of Anoikis was mapped) and what the devs intended where it was storyline wise.
The map or the actual ingame distance between the starts in w-space is rather small, it's a cluster similar to New Eden, approximately 1000ly away. The storyline had something to do with the locus signature being actual observable stellar objects thousands or millions of ly apart (or something like that, can't remember exactly).
This was just a huge steaming dump into the face of immersion and I lost all my interest about that storyline. How can they be so careless?! the Code ALWAYS wins |

Try Rhava's notes from his blog Rhava's has some seriously inciteful information about certain hidden storyline loops that frankly are still within the verse today.
As much as I like Pvp and a player controlled universe I would like a lot more storyline input from CCP outside and inside the game. The universe is a big thing and we need natural disasters, mysterious intrigue and even wild goose chases to spice up life and give some of the more scientific minds and adventurous among us to ponder about.
I hope all this is still alive and kicking somewhere. |

Well if you read the chronicles a squadron of bombers did vanish in a wormhole and later on in the game someone (an actual player) in a wormhole came across six abandoned bombers.
And destroyed them.
It was kind of like that scene from "Dances with Wolves" when the Union Soldiers found Kevin Kostner's journal and used it for toilet paper.
It is believed that they were simply the bombers that vanished, but there was wide speculation as to what was in them. The RP guys in SYNE were rather perturbed.

Or do I ask too much? They did answer officially in the Live Event forums. The plot line is dead. However the Live Events team may start a new plotline using some of the previous material at some point, it hasn't been 100% ruled out. But as they don't have the original material they will be creating a new one and it may end up going in different directions if they start it up.
