So, we have tech three ships which remove a skill level when destroyed, and we have pods that protect your sp if you die.. What about a class of ship that cannot utilize capsuleer tech?
I am not suggesting a *true death* if killed in this ship, the maybe something akin to not having an updated clone if you lose the ship. It should be powerful by itself, and as there are no options for implant enhancements, I think it could add another dynamic to the game and increase the risk factor of pvp/pve even more.
I have not hashed out what type of ship would be appropriate for such a system, and but I feel it should be at least bc sized in order to match up the risk of sp. I would like to hear others thoughts. |

Lore-wise, the reason skill training gives bonuses to ships is because the capsuleer is plugged into the ship with the capsule. If you have a ship like that, then you wouldn't be able to utilize any skills like gunnery or armor skills.
Anyway, a ship like that would be so risky that I doubt anyone would use it. |

We have ships that can't use capsuleer technology. They're called rats and are represented on the overview by a red cross. Players tend to shoot at them and kill them in relatively short order.
What you want... I cannot imagine why anyone would fly a ship that outright negates their medical clone - especially when in all likelihood you'd need to hand over the ISK for a new one just the same as if it had not been negated. Skillpoint loss is only accepted - and grudgingly at that - for T3s and the only reason skillpoint loss is accepted for T3s is because they affect a very limited and specific skill subset that can be retrained quickly because of the skillpoint loss mechanic they're subject to.
If you think someone wants to risk Racial Battleship V or Racial Carrier IV for an incrementally more powerful ship than others ... you may have some re-thinking to do. As it is, people already don't want to risk ships that don't threaten their SP.
Also, if this ship doesn't have a pod ... how do you propose to handle the existing mechanic of being able to eject from a ship while it's in space? |

We already have those kind of ships. They're simply normal ships. And not being allowed to use capsuleer tech and surviving with capsuleer tech at the same time kind of clashes. If you can't use a capsule, you die. No coming back with clones, since without capsule there is no transfer to your new clone, you just go away forever.
What you want is something which is distinctively not Eve. I suggest trying out Elite: Dangerous. That game has what you want. |

I don't think you've read the lore behind capsuleer technology... |

I like this idea, but applied to all ships. The "immortal" clone idea makes people into A-hat jerk offs with zero-risk to themselves personally, they isk-risk-factor out the smallest amount of pain they can suffer by how much they are willing to spend....but usually its the cheapest ships destroying the most expensive ships. But to stay within lore, every time you dock, there is an "auto-save" feature that keeps your clone up to date (med clones are gone at this point, but insurance is removed completely to keep the isk sink) from the last day or so (like document auto-save, power goes out, but the last couple minutes of your work is lost but not the entire file). So when you get popped, you go boom period....that gank better have been worth it, cause you lost something as well as the guy you just destroyed and its not a factor in the Wallet function . |

Just think for a few moments, why would anyone ever fly these ships. What possible gain is there to the game, what happens to the person who loses vast amounts of training time?
The delightful concept of "increased risk factor" is a nice buzzphrase and meaningless beyond that. Putting ones hand in a mincing machine is increased risk but you would need to be batshit crazy to do it and regret it forever after.

I assure you, cowardly forum alt, that people in EVE are not asshats because they have immortality and medical clones.
Also, either post with your main or go get ganked some more.

So living in wormholes, hostile space or simply space without stations should be entirely the preserve of alts, right? |
