Or, to be exact, auctions will be.
Quote:
No global contracts You will not be able to create global contracts. You can assign a contract to any (PC) corporation or character (as well as your own alliance) or have it publicly available in the region where it begins. As such, players will not be able to view public contracts in another region. However, if you set your availability to a corporation, the contract will be viewable by members of that corp wherever they happen to be.
People will simply continue to use sell orders' forum auctions if there are no global auction contracts.
Unfortunately this is not an opinion, this is a fact. The only way that auctions will seriously become popular in-game is if people move every item they want to sell to Jita, and sell it there on auction. That will make the Jita lag even worse, and it'll make EVE that much more similar to World of Warcrap.

Global contracts would be better, but over all I still think they will be used
just not as much come on devs you know u wanna make it global, people can just filter out what they do not want to see.

They will be used if CCP remove the sell forums section or stop covering sales on the fourms.

Agreed, if only for the reason that more centralised stuff = more people in Jita = less people in the other 99% of empire that's permanently near-empty.
Originally by: Lord Violent EvE is slowly becoming a game for the stupid being catered to by devs, as they lack ability to kill/survive anything.

yes, Global is required but ONLY for Auctions i would say, to reduce the old loading times :)
Unless of course the system allowed you to access some mean market data of each region. ______________________________________

I some people are missing the point of having regions in the first place. It's not like they were done just on a whim. |

-NO NEW SKILLS! -NO CONTRACT LIMITS FOR CEO's DIRECTORS -CONTRACTS FOR "ALLIANCE ONLY" & "CORP ONLY" -NO FEES FOR INTERNAL CORP/ALLIANCE CONTRACTS -GOBAL ISSUE
Indeed, this is like one step forward and two steps in another direction then where we were initially going - got to love vertigo like this.
And as silly as it may sound, DS here is right about the similarity to WoWcrap ... don't you think that if we liked it htat way we would be playing WoWcrap instead of EVE by a long time now? Jeez.

evebay.com is going to get really popular, if they do that.
People WILL NOT restrict their sales to a single region, if they can improve their returns by auctioning galaxy-wide. Why should they? It'd be dumb. ________________________________________________

Dark Shikari has a point here. Last thing we need is Jita turning into a seen-it-once-seen-it-all place for EVE and *shudder* WoWcrapness as wel X_X -

Agreed, before long, CCP will have to bring in Spacial Tachyon Distortions (S.T.D) in Jita to prevent so much C.R.O.T.C.H action.

Can anyone think of a reason to not have global orders available? I mean what the hell is the point if you can't have an open order on the market available to anyone?
Rather Lame.

Global auctions? What are you smoking? Why would an auction tool even exist in a game like Eve?

absolutely true. no global orders is totally destructive to high value and high rarity item trading. things like t2 BPOs, faction/officer mods, top implants, capital ships won't be sold regionalized. they just aren't available in sufficient amounts to do so! and ofcourse the stupid tax will be evadid aswell by not using the contract system.
another result will be people that go out to 0.0 or even underpopulated regions will not be able to participate in meaningful trade. right.. as if we need more incentive for people to stay in empire hubs.
all in all it boosts hubs and brings back the annoyance into trading that is spamming the totally overpopulated tradechan and the trade forums, just like in any other game.

Probably because it would mean no one would use the regional markets anymore. AFAIK, Escrow was never meant for the purpose it's being used for today, but because it's such a drag to use, for most things to buy or sell people still use the regional market. From the look of things, Contracts will be much more powerful, hence much more attractive to use for buying and selling stuff... particularly selling. And if everyone sells there, the buyers will have to follow. Oh, and probably lag/database load will have something to do with it as well.
So as much as I understand that this is a disappointment, I can also understand the thinking. Maybe CCP could implement some sort of Auction module together with Contracts, where seller and buyers can find eachother before stuff gets transfered through a contract? --
