Edited by: Scoundrelus on 30/07/2006 02:49:38 After a multitude of enemies running away from me when I jump into the belt with my cruiser I decided to try something. Now I'm blinking red mkay, (-9.2 sec status) and I jumped into a shuttle and started to resume my "pirating".
Heres how it happened.
I jumped into a belt, and first ship I find? A Prophecy. I lock and accelerate towards him in my shuttle. He leaves his ratting and warps off to a station.
I jumped into a mining op in an ice belt, only to see them disperse like you just throw a fox down a rabbit hole.
I found an --> APOCALYPSE <-- ratting in a belt. Guess what he did when he saw me? Warped right the hell off.
Jumped into a group of 2 rifters 1 rupture and a vexor. Off they go as well.
Eve would be a lot more fun if people would grow a pair of bawls. ===============================================

I had an arbitrator, a celestis, and two Mackinaws warp away from my Prophecy in Aridia 0.0 ;p
However they warped back in after a couple minutes with three Deimoses and a manticore so I dunno if that counts Sig removed, inappropriate content - Cortes |

Running from a prophecy isn't embarrassing (particularly with no scram, so engaging is pointless). Running from a shuttle is.
Anyway, nice going. Gotta try that one

Since I recently became a flasher I gotta play with this...maybe if I had fraps I could record it and start convoes with the fools I scared off. Be interesting to see what they say. ___________________________________________

if they were NPC'ing/mining etc then tbh it just makes sense, id assume you were going to be used as a warp in point, common sense really

Who uses a flashing red shuttle as a warp in point when you can just use a tackler to tackle AND use as a warp in point? ===============================================

If I was mining in a belt in a covetor and someone flashing red warped in, I'll hit the warp button before doing anything else. Call it whatever you want, I call it making sure I don't loose 40m in mods+insurance....plus time.
The Prophecy has no excuse, but you can't fault mining ships for heading to the station.

You'll only lose 20mill, our ransom rates for mining barges are very reasonable.

Definately funny, but it's human nature (not to mention common sense) unless your opponent is hot on the scanner, he doesn't know what you're in, also, if it's a relatively busy system, you could be scouting a warp point (which other posters brought up)
A carebear who is warped in on, is probobly thinking about protecting his investment, since you're -9.2 I'd assume when you get warped in on, all you're thinking about is blood.
Still, good hustle, and you DO need to get a fraps of it.

Personally I'd warp away too if I was mining. If only because the only PC pirates I've run into so far have the policy of blowing me up just becasue. Not one has tried to ransom yet. And I'd rather not find out the hard way that their the type to pop your ship.

Edited by: Siriyana on 31/07/2006 06:17:00 I've only had a pirate ransom me once. They did it after they already blew up my hauler, and they got theirs in the end. :)
Most people immediately warp out. Me, I keep an eye on everyone in the system. I size up the target within the first half second it arrives before deciding on what to do. If I know for sure I'm going to be outgunned, I run.
If I think it might be even, or only slightly in their favor.. well..
Stabs are for wusses anyway. :) Only time you'll catch me using them is delivering ships to a customer. ;) ----- CEO, Astrum Contract Services Group "Through the Endless Night of Space" |

Well.
They did the sensible thing really.
They can either shoot, run, or do nothing.
if they shoot the shuttle, you warp out in your shuttle or pod and you now have a 15 minute timer allowing you to attack them at gates or stations while their comrades can't interfere.
If they do nothing you can be used as a warpin point for enemy ships waiting to ambush.
If they flee, they lose their ore though
But in any case, I think their fear is reasonable. Small flashing icons usually mean pirate ceptors, which means checking what kind of ship it was might be long enough for him to zip over and scramble you. -----

Read more carefully. I am blinking red, which means anyone can shoot me, whether it be the guy who just popped my shuttle or the pope. ===============================================

Please don't assume, that everyone knows this.
I perfectly understand the low-sec miner, hauler etc. for running at first sight of something resembling a pirate.

Edited by: Rumbaar on 01/08/2006 05:02:30 Well you see someone with a -9+ rating you surely aren't going to try and get on their bad side are you?
I can't speak from fact but I'm sure most griefers/gankers are so low rated and enjoy finding an excuse to bring their weapons to bare.
You think if any of these people had destroyed your ship, or even podded you that they wouldn't now be on your killrights list? Or just on your list to kill later on?
Originally by: Scoundrelus Eve would be a lot more fun if people would grow a pair of bawls.
Not saying it was your intension, or maybe it was, but EVE would be a lot more fun if people didn't resort to such 'grief/gank' tactics...

maybe they thought you were speeding towards them to get a warp in point for your buddies. although it is more likely you'd use a cov ops to do that, silly them :)
