Gonna bang this one out here and see what ppl think. I havent been on forums much recently so apols is I repeat someone else.
After all the buzz/laughs of the tourney is anyone interested in setting up a league or regular weekly 5-a-side corp only competition. No prizes as such...but winners can keep loot. Basic rules would be along lines of...5 man team, only 1 ship from each class upto battleship, warp outs = disqualification and certain limitations to what mods you can run....other than a few smaller points to be ironed out....thats it.
Discuss...

Thats nonsense for a league with that basic ruleset. If they have pirate implants and get podded they loose them and you can't check people for implants anyways without GM help. No faction stuff is also nonsense since the idea is to keep the loot =)

Yh....drug test...all winning pilots dock at a station of choice and then undock in shuttles to be podded by Referee.
;)
This would be a weekly/fortnightly contest run over 6 month season...a number of matches a weekend to enable all corps to enter. (Yes I appreciate the scale...this would be big!)
Gulp...

Well, I would think to run this properly, you would need a GM's help anyway. Who's going to get ppl to the areana, make sure ppl aren't out of bounds, etc.

TBH, a real test of skills would be just to allow t1 ships and modules, and to be honest, it is how the Caldari Tournament should be fought too. That way the wallet size of the corp/alliance will not determine the winner. And no logistics drones allowed. This way the fights should be fast and skill dependent.
Personally, I think a prize should be presented. Perhaps a good way for a wayward Alliance to boost it's PR?

Totally agree - plus to avoid the implants issue people should have to jump clone to the arena so they are in a fresh clone.

The wealth of alliances did not determine the winner of the second caldari championship.
What did determine the victor was real-life intelligence, planning and teamwork.
Stop whining implants, it makes only a small difference which matter little.

Indeed, we all found it might funny that everyone was screaming "CRYSTAL SETS" when most of our team were using Halo, you know, that useless set?
Our team was also one of the cheapest, ships wise, aswell - the vulture and scimitar both being pretty cheap... at the time anyway ;)

i would suggest setting up 1vs1 would be easier, 5vs5 attrackt alot of attention but mehp its just a matter of having the will to do it, the idea is nice just alot of planning and work that needs to be done.

It wasn't the crystal set that kept the vulture alive against IAC, it was the sick resists on my vulture.
And that was the only time in the whole tournament that any of our crystal sets totting ships were shot at.
Davey, ignore the whiners. If they can't put up then they should shut up.
Good luck getting something organised.

Exactly. Man, am I tired of all the implant whining.
The entire tournament, the only time the MC team was "tested" was by [5] who got our Cerb below 50% once and ASCN who sucked us dry and chipped away at us til we were down. Every other match we fought, quite honestly, nothing lived long enough to cause a problem. In fact, until we fought ASCN, I didn't hit the shield booster on my CNR even once!
Our three main ships steamrolled everything in thier path and the Crystal implants made **** all difference in our final match against ASCN. ASCN had the right TACTIC to bring us up short (this is where I scream about having to reload again ). Regardless, it had nothing to do with implants at all. -
