Hey all
I just picked up a Falcon and as we all know the Cyno mod wont fit on a ship with a T2 cloak.
So whats the set up for the Falcon? I mean yeah you get to 00 and then you have to dock to change out your cloak for the Cyno field (if you can find a station)???
I was thinking I should see if I can fit it with out activation. If thatĘs the case then I could shut down power to one and then when cap is maxed, activate the other. Any ideas?
What are full ship load out recommendations for the falcon? Primary roll is to set up Cyno fields for capital ships. Please let me know what you think.
Thx much

Apparently the conflict exists if you have them fitted at all, inactive OR active. So there's no point in putting a cyno generator on a recon ship over something much cheaper.

Thanks for checking that. So much for the duel roll thing.

Best is to use cheap frigate for cynofields in dangerous areas; BS or cheap hauler if you need to carry more fuel. Don't really see the absolute need for cloaked cynofield dropper.
Falcon's primary role is to be support jammer/observer. Like waiting hidden 100km from the likely battle area; then uncloaking and jamming everything.
It works as scout too, but it's a bit clumsy&expensive for jumping through unknown gates.

Edited by: Meat Wadd on 02/08/2006 20:40:46 Yeah but the bonus for the ship is for cyn fields AND cloak. I am hearing now they dont intend to fix this and that this was the plan from the start.
Damn CCPs black heart! =¦

Kinda stupid and short sighted on CCP's part .....
Without the ability to fly in cloaked your no better off than using a T1 frigate / interceptor.
I know you get a bonus to ozone use and cynofield time but I'd prefer to be sitting like a duck in a T1 frigate getting smart bombed than a 200 mill equipped falcon.
CCP intially stated that by designed they wanted to Recon to fit and use both item but the back peddled when they hashed the code ..
Shame on you CCP rather amateurish if you ask me ..... be big boys own up and fix it.

I don't mean to make your moaning sound totally retarded, but how do you get smartbombed?
Usually, a smart pilot will either set the Cynofield on a gate, Can't activate smartbomb next to it, or near a station, which has the same restriction.
Unless of course you want to put up a cynofield in the middle of nowhere, where your carrier/dread/whatever might not be able to dock/rest while it refill the cap for the jump. Then i salute you, prime moaning.
Yes, The cloak and Cynofield generator need a fixing, moaning about smartbombing issues with sitting still? Well, obviously that's your own fault.
Not everyone flies around with smartbombs on their ships. Very few actually.

If are trying to say that everyone sets up Cynofields in hostile systems at camped gates .... I laugh at you .....
Firstly ..... and I'll help you out here ....
Not every system has station ......... I know it may be news to you but there is space beyond empire .....
Second ....... not everyone's tactic is to jump their capital ships to a heavily fortified gate camp ......
I suggest you start a thread titled "My 3 days playing Eve and Forum *****ing"

Is that a challenge? I have a non exploitable tactic that is unbeatable.

KilROCK its seems that your only argument is to use Stations and Gates to fix a ship that hasn't work since it was introduced.
As the previous poster suggested, most "POS's" are located in systems without Stations and no one with any sense would bring their entire capital fleet to a gate expecially if camped.
The argument is not how people adapt to circumvent bugs but why hasn't CCP fixed it ....

Err, Learn to read little one.
I've said to hang near gates and stations to counter his moaning about smartbomb. I acknoledged the fact Cloaks/Cynos needed to be fixed in various topics concerning this issue.

And I suggested that most systems don't have Stations and hanging around gates is not wise.
So I believe he has a valid concern regarding smart bombs.
The point being made why use a Falcon when a frigate does exactly the same jobs minus the fuel and time activated .. It can't warp cloaked therefore it has to fly to the system like any other ship. This could be 1 or 30 jumps into enermy space.

I think we need to stop and think for a minute about how ridiculously powerful a cloaking cynofield generator ship would be.
It would completely annihilate the point of that gatecamp with 8 bubbles.

You can't cloak with the cyno on. You can't drop a cynofield while cloaked.
Why is it so bad to be able to travel cloaked and being able to drop it while uncloaked without having to give up on any of the two?

Yes I know and it should stay that way.

Because a recon jumps into a massive gatecamp with bubbles, it cloaks. "Bugger! Now what?" the gatecampers think to themselves. The recon chuckles to itself then wanders to that pos the enemy capital fleet are shooting and drops the cyno.
Bingo! Instant capital ship fleet in striking distance of the siege moded capital ships shooting the pos.
Guarenteed victory with no hope of escape for the pos attackers! "Pull the fleet back from the gate!" you say but then the gate is undefended and the siege lifters support fleet jumps in.
It's all over and more importantly, its all over far too easily for the pos defending force.
It has got to be difficult to get into a sieged system and put a cyno down otherwise defending pos would be far too easy.

Mids: Sensor Booster II x 1-2, Hypnos or T2 Multispecs for the rest
Lows: 1600mm plate and either a Cap Power Relay (not needed with Hypnos) or a Rep.
If you want to use it to setup cyno fields, fit a generator and a stupidly powerful passive tank on it.

Quote: Force recon ships are the cruiser-class equivalent of covert ops frigates. While not as resilient as combat recon ships, they are nonetheless able to do their job as reconaissance vessels very effectively, due in no small part to their ability to interface with covert ops cloaking devices and set up cynosural fields for incoming capital ships.
These are CCP's own words, the ship with its "current bonuses" was designed to have both the covert ops cloaking device and cynosural field fitted the same time.
Its not relevent and totally seperate debate (like nos, ecm) if its abilities are too over-powered but CCP either need to fix it or change the abilities and bonuses these ships have.
