As a Mac user, I'm fairly stoked about the changes to Cider - so that alone is worth a release. The graphical overhaul and under the hood changes will eventually lead to a level of ship customization that everyone has been clamouring for. Expanded PvE content is always a welcome addition and module tiercide is long overdue - so I'm glad to see this begin in earnest. I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week. |

I question what someone like RISE does on a regular basis. Since the pirate ship rebalance, what has he been working on? Day to day, what precisely is he spending his 'development' time on? As one of the key people attached to Ship balance/Tiericide, its very disconcerting to see the trickle of tweaks in the past 2-3 months.
As many here have already posted, whats happened to Recon and T3 rebalance, Blops rebalance?
And seriously, enough with Game of Drones. Who disagrees that droneboats are dominating the meta? - Vexor vs all T1 Cruisers. VNI vs all Navy Cruisers. Ishtar vs all HACs. Gila vs all Pirate Cruisers: Please spot the theme.
Instead of tweaks, I'd really rather see them roll out a new drone-specific Ewar.
It's better for immersion too. Instead of the story being "They decided to stop making their ships strong", it's "they invented a new drone killer Ewar device."
The device could be Minmatar, since they don't really have any good Ewar at present.
Quote:
Ashimmu vs Gila is a near 3.5x price difference as of right now. Bring SOME semblance of parity.
The irony is that Gila prints are even more expensive than Rattlesnake prints. Who knows why?
No Inspiration wrote:Not sure if I like the availability of French as a language for the client. Even though I'm French myself, I like the accuracy and non-ambiguity of English technical terms. French is arguably a better suited language than English for, say, litterature. But it's indeniably much worse for technical stuff. And it usually causes problems in video games. (Wanna know what a skill or item actually does? check the English description). Also most French can be quite chauvinistic and are not comfortable with their English (mostly because of protectionism from the government, e.g movies are dubbed, there are imposed ratios for French songs on the radio so it's not all UK/US stuff, etc..). So, kinda like how Russian is present everywhere in Eve today, you're gonna start seeing more and more people speaking French in local chat and other public channels, and they'll probably tell you to fo f*** yourself if you ask them to speak English. After Oceanus, I'm also afraid I'll hear stuff like "Perturbateurs d'Hyper-Espace" on comms, when it's always been "Warp Disruptor" or even just "point".
We need the French so there will be somebody easy to beat up on. |

You have your own jukebox that CCP doesn't have to keep up to date, or backwards compatable with your operating system, !!"
I joined Eve in 2004 BECAUSE of the music. Yes, I know most of you want to listen to cranked techno and mind-altering dubstep. But the soft nebulous ambient music sets a psychological space that enhances the spacey effect.
I would love to have new music (maybe one or two new ones) with each release. And, the ability to either mark favorites or manage a playlist. I want to select, at my choice, which song is playing.
I like that the music changes to an exciting hard rock driving sound when I warp into a mission. That's great and should remain automatic.
If people want to listen to non-eve music, they can use any player out of the game. But let us select Eve music somehow, and keep adding new music. Oh, and maybe a randomizer.

Updated wormhole nebulae? Sweet!
If CCP knows the position of the wormhole systems maybe they can add dynamic nebulae similar to what we got going on in New Eden. That would be cool.
Also, CCPlz can you provide us with a list of all the assets that you updated in Hyperion? I can't seem to find anything that changed visually. |

My Flycatcher Interdictor is stuck in it's own bubbles. And the interceptors keep escaping.
Anything over the size of a destroyer can crush my Interdictor in a moment.
The 'ceptors fly faster, quicker and more than my Interdictor, and I am not happy.
I need an interceptor kill ship of some type please, perhaps some kind of interdictor will be fine, dunno, it's not working for me.I'm off to the pub. Telling my mates, and it's me they laugh at. And that's someone fault. Getting you on your feet.

There is good reason to balance the different Interceptors, but whatever you do please do not remove their immunity to non-targeted interdiction. There needs to be one way to travel through null-sec. The killboards are already full of gatecampers; they get their share anyways. |

I see no reason to reactivate my mothballed accounts.
I see no new content that rocks my boat, I am not French (thankfully) and the game just continues to stagnate.
When CCP value solo / small corp players who don't have the time or inclination to be an alliance lemming then maybe I will return. Until then CCP / CSM thank you for giving me my life back. |

I agree. Just another utter crap expansion.
In their willingness to help new players CCp have ****** up the game beyond everything.
The balancing is ****, the blob has become bigger than ever and all counters to that blob have been removed.
CCp. Red Moon Rising was your last good patch. Everything after that basically ****** up the game.
You sandbox is no more. You created a mudpool and you are too afraid to roll back the changes that messed up the game.
Keep doing what you are doing and more accounts will get mothballed.
Too bad that moeny came before your game content. You had to waste money left, right and center. You forgot to invest in Eve and only listend to those mofo's of the CSM.

It's not that I dislike the patch but I do feel like EvE is becoming a very dated game and these updates aren't going to brighten CCP's financial future.
We have games that allow us to express ourselves much better than 5 years ago when EvE had a bit of an edge in this respect. We have soooo many games around where we can experience a better level of connection with the things we make. We have better sounding games. Better looking games. Better space games. Games with incredible levels of customization(156 active Skyrim mods and counting)
Meanwhile CCP can't figure out how to work with their database well enough to have visually different ships with the same name.
Edit: It'd be like looking at your next car purchase and saying.......I'll pick the Neon......it's not spacious, it's not comfortable, it doesn't offer good fuel mileage, it doesn't offer good reliability, or low repair costs, or good ride quality, or good handling or impressive performance....there's no good reason to pick this car, but I'm a Mopar guy. Mopar guys didn't stop Dodge from eating a **** financially and EvE guys can't save CCP. CCP has to offer something impressive eventually or EvE will very slowly die. Do you have it? |

CCP has failed to offer anything different for several years. They invested too much in Dust and we know how well that has done and they invested in a CSM that is complicit in Eve's decline by putting their needs and that of their alliances before the greater good of Eve.
I would like to see a road map of what's in the pipeline for the next 12 months to give me some hope but I fear they don't have a clue never mind a road map. Maybe they need to ask the alliances what they want?
The last 2 releases have finished me in Eve and the next release does not give me any hope. Risk v Reward no longer applies in Eve.
So as to your comment about Eve will very slowly die, I think many would agree that Eve is in already in serious decay and that without some major shift in their development plan the future is one of terminal decline. Its all very sad

Well...good that CCP is trying to improve the game.
However: EVE is a complex game. It takes time to learn the features, decide what to do, train skills, and work out some strategy for playing. If new changes will be produced every 5 or 6 weeks, changes which frequently change the basic mechanics of the game - there is simply no time to catch up with all that and figure out how to play the game.
In addition - if the new releases drastically reduce some abilities, change ship properties, change reprocessing/manufacturing/research etc. - after some time many people simply will get tired of it, as it affects their skill training, income streams, and their competitiveness in the game - for which, let me tell you - they paid with $, time and effort.
Let's not forget that the game is for players. It does not have to be perfect - it just needs to be playable. In a complex game like EVE - certain degree of stability is required. The balance between the need to change and the core of the game needs to be carefully balanced.
Now - feel free to flame me - I am quite new to EVE. But I know at least 6 players, all of them with many years of EVE under their belts - who did not renew their subscriptions - because of constant changes.
YMMV, as usual. |

Yes, I agree with many others that Eve has been FAR TOO weighted in favour of large alliances at the expense of everyone else: null sec, CSM, alliance tournaments, sovereignty system, etc. It was one of the big reasons I took a break for a few years.
However, glad to see Eve in French. Is there going to be an enhanced sovereignty mechanism whereby French alliance and corporations can surrender and hand over large chunks of their territories to others?
