Will these be a new ammo type that fits into an assault launcher? Like cruiser-sized rockets, then?
I wonder if assault launchers will still hold light missiles to use for anti-frig work?
Will there be new skills to go with them? So we'll have a new skill to train to lv. V before the assault launcher IIs already fitted will be usable?
Finally, any guesses on what sort of explosion velocity/radius assault missiles will have?
I don't even want to think what T2 assault missiles will be like.

The blog said that the launchers would require more power grid than heavy launchers, but use less cpu. That would seem to imply a totally new launcher type.

Look at the light missiles and calculate the combat values when they're launched from assault launchers.
I don't think there'll be both assault launchers old and new style.
A change to another missile type will screw the owners of T2 light missile BPO over pretty hard as hardly any frigate pilot uses T2 missiles for some esoteric reason.

maybe they will bring Assault Missiles skill out and split the SP's of players Light Missiles to that as well since the standard and assault laucnhers use same skill.
it would be hard if people are using assault IIs and then it changes that they need to get Assault Missiles to 5 and assault missile specialization to use summat they been using for last 9months.
but tougher things have happened for missile users before, with the changes in explosions and damages alogn with the 6-7 skilsl to learn it may just happen that way.
