As topic, worth it?
Doesn't seem like a particularly onerous skill to get to 5, and 5% lower mass for plates per level sounds pretty sweet for armour tankers.
Sorry for the low content post - basically hoping someone would validate my current skill training |

If you fly armor ships that have plates on them a lot, then this is an extremely good skill to get to level 5. R.I.P. Vile Rat |

Especially useful for frigates with plates (not very common though), and otherwise when fleeted and following an anchor.
All my armor tankers train it to 5. |

This skill was introduced 1,5y ago (originally with a different name). This question was popping up often at that time. Back then I made the following analysis and answer to the same question. It should still apply:
Quote:The answer to this question is always dependant on whether you have some other skills that give you more benefits per time spent on training. At some point you have trained all the more important skills to V and this one is up next.
That said, usually when somebody asks this questions they really want to evaluation how beneficial skill X is, so they can make their decision. On that front my opinion is the following:
I did a quick check in EFT on the difference of IV and V on 2 ships. 1) Maller w/ 2 x T2 1600mm + MWD: 1235m/s => 1252m/s 2) Harbinger w/ meta4 800mm + T1 Trimark + MWD: 1016m/s => 1018m/s
The example #1 is maybe one were the benefit of this skill is maximized and it gives you only 17m/s (+1,4%). The example #2 is more normal situation and it gives you only 2m/s (+0,2%). With smaller plates or without MWD the effect is smaller. As a comparison in scenario 2 going from Armor rigging IV to V gives you a speed increase of 11m/s (i.e. 5,5 times more). So, personally I wonGÇÖt queue up the level V on this skill for a long time (maybe never). There are many other better VGÇÖs that IGÇÖll aim for. Armor rigging V being one of them.

As for myself: I've had armor rigging V for 1,5 years now, but armor layering V is still on the waiting list. |

The big thing to remember is that is 5% of the plate only. Most ships weight a lot more than the plates fitting to them .
A BS is like 100m kg where as a 1600mm plate is like 2m kg, even cruisers are 10m kg+ so with a 1600mm plate on a cruiser you get 5% of 5% which is not very much. |
