Hi,
Reading the discription and talking to people about the specific damage compensation skills I am confused as to what the skill actually does. What does it mean when it states 5% bonus?
Please Help!

Edited by: Mike Yagon on 04/08/2006 10:12:26 It means a 5% bonus to the passive modules effect.
i.e. if you have a passive shield that adds 30% to EM resist and you train one level into that skill, you get 5% of that 30% extra, bringing you to a whopping 31,5%!
If you train it to 5, and take a Tech2 Magnetic Scattering Array (37.5%) you will receive 46,875% EM resist with that hardener. Almost, but not quite, as much as a Tech1 active hardener.

Thank you for your response. This raises a couple of questions:
1. So there's no point training those skills? 2. Active hardners are the way to go? 3. Whats the point of passive hardners when they hardly use any cap?
Sorry for asking so many newb questions (probably newb)

1. There is, they improve your passive hardeners. See answer to point 2. 2. For missions, usually, yes. For pvp, see answer 3. 3. I assume you mean when actives hardly use any cap? Well, some ships have very little cap to spare, and especially smaller ships like frigates are very vulnerable to larger ships NOSsing them. If your hardeners deactivate due to lack of cap then you lose all your defense.

In addition, should your actives be switched off during a fight, you don't lose ALL of your defense, you still get the 3% bonus per level. A small and perhaps insignificant difference, but it might just buy you a couple of seconds to escape. --Dameon Blackthorne
