If you were flying Kronos you can still use it the same. Apart from losing web bonus not much have changed from that point of view.
Quote:I wanted to ask you guys to recommend a fitting for flying Gallente L4 missions in high-sec. - 4 guns - bastion - 1 or 2 tracking computers - 1 repper - 1 mission specific hardener - 1 cap module or rig (to keep guns stable) - 4 or 5 magstabs - optional AB/MWD/MJD
and there is very little number of ways you can go wrong with filling remaining slots. |

Marquis Dean wrote:I was using an active armor fit with hardeners swapped according to the mission requirements. So in my low slots I've got 3x mag stabs (fed navy + 2 t2), one deadspace large rep mod, one deadspace adaptive nano membrane, and two hardeners (assorted collection of deadspace and t2) swapped as I mentioned based on what I need.
This fitting forces me to use a med slot for a heavy cap booster. As I have stated before, when I used to fly the kronos there were no bastion modules so maybe my active tank is a bit too much? Right now I only have 2x tracking computers, an AB and the heavy cap booster in my meds.
I would appreciate any insight on whether the active tank needs to be dropped in favor of something else, allowing me to fit in that extra tracking computer.
Bastion more than doubles your tank (100% repper bonus plus resists). Some people argue that a repper alone is enough, while some (me included) prefer to have one hardener. In any case, using more than one hardener is overkill for ordinary L4s.
Since tank isn't much concern, you should focus on increasing damage and damage application. The rule of thumb is that you should have 4 or 5 damage modules (rigs counting) and about 3 for application (TC/TE/rig). My personal choice is to add some drone support as well.
I use cap booster too but it's rather safety net. Like I mentioned in my earlier post, one CCC rig or cap recharger is enough to keep guns stable (you don't want to cap out while shooting). Having that, you're perfectly fine for most of the time. Cap injection is normally needed only when something goes horribly wrong and you need to keep you repper active longer than anticipated. Which almost never happens if you know what are you doing.
Quote: Also I have never used blasters before on this ship, I was using rails before, so naturally I have a few questions which I hope someone will indulge (much appreciated).
At what range should I aim to be positioned? (taking the bastion into account and 2x OR 3x tracking computers loaded with optimal range scripts). What drones should I use? I was using hammerhead IIs for the frigs and cruisers that were too close for my rails.
Let me state first that rails are still fine. If it's your preference you can still use them.
With blasters, you need to train specialization ASAP because both types of T2 ammo are going to be your bread and butter.
As for range, you are using blasters, you want to sit on their faces. ;) That said, in my not too well informed opinion shooting up to 50km with Null is okay. And of course you have to start managing your position - it pays well to learn and master triangular jumps with MJD.
I can't offer good advice regarding drones. I used to use Hammerheads II but recently drones have been rebalanced and I haven't reevaluated their feasibility. Quite a lot of people swear by sentries. They are obviously easier to recall, among other advantages. I suggest you go out and experiment a bit to find what suits you best. If you discover something interesting, please share results.
In closing, get into habit of taking Mobile Depot (with some spare gear of course) on every ship you do missions in. It can save your skin. |

Use 2 hardeners, even with bastion some of the newer missions put out a lot of damage. I don't know what L4 missions(*) are you referring to but neither AE bonus nor Dread Pirate did call for more than one hardener. And I have been using Reactive because I grew lazy.
As for the magstabs, even this 20-ish dps increase counts towards faster mission completion and honestly, with this ubertank there is not much else worth putting into the slot.
(*) Epic arcs are another story. There I'd recommend using 2 or even 3 hardeners, depending on exact mission. |

It's been long time since I did that mission and honestly I don't remember which setup exactly I've been using - now not only I don't mission too ofter but also when I do, I do for an agent which doesn't offer Assaults.
But even if this one required slightly beefed tank, this is exactly why I keep hammering down this point: it is what Mobile Depots are for. Even if you underestimate the mission and things start to go south, while you bastion you can deploy the depot and refit after the cycle. No need to fly with extra hardener which will be overkill for most of remaining missions. |

streaming video. I don't know this one and eve-survival doesn't mention it too. Care to share some details about it? |

Marquis Dean wrote: I do, also, believe that with the bastion module some missions can definitely be completed with only 1 hardener in the Kronos marauder, but I would only suggest doing that if you want to fly the rail fit because otherwise it could get uncomfortable.
With blasters you experience something called a "gun tank": even with inadequate tank you kill them faster than they kill you. Prime example is Damsel in Distress. Of course you need to be in the right place at the right time and know your ship very well to do that, so I wouldn't recommend doing it to a beginner. But seeing it work is priceless, if quite exciting at times. |
