I need to be able to run missions to generate some ISK between wars, but currrently I have almost no standing with Caldari agents, nor other agents. Running lvl 1's and 2's is so ming-numbingly-boring, that I want to put a drill against my head. I've fallen asleep during them more times than I'd like to remember.
If I however, run a Gurista 4/10 complex, would my standing to the Navy increase, cause it's slighly more fun.

Afaik u will get no standing gain with CN doing complexes. The only way to raise standings with a corp is mission running for it. Be patient, as mission running is hard and boring at start, but it's getting better as u keep running and getting more challenging missions.

Edited by: Sylaan on 08/08/2006 09:10:29 Make sure you do the storyline missions when you get them (roughly every 16 missions or so). Also, not sure you are aware of this, but if your Caldari State standing is high enough you can use any Caldari agent (Caldari Navy included). Of course, if you never worked for Caldari you'll just have to grind level 1s and level 2s for a while.

Silly question, but do you have Connections skill trained to at least 4? That gives a helpful boost to your standings and doesnt take that long to train (to 4 anyway).

I have social II only atm, I can't be bothered to take the 5-6 days out of my skill queue to get the standing up like 1 point, which would basically put me just into lvl 2's with bad quality.
Our corp has +10 with the caldari state, but my personal with the navy is like 0.6 or summin stupid like that.
You really should be able to gain standing from doing the plex, I'm doing them a favour damnit.
This wouldn't be a problem if I could piggy back friends lvl 3 & 4 missions and gain standing through that, pity the gang & mission setup sucks.

If you cant be bothered to take the time to train your social skills to a point where you can use decent agents, your only other real option is to take the time to work through the really crappy agents first. Which is the lesser of the two evils?

Okay, perhaps I should rephrase. I would be willing to spend the time training the skills, if they could get me straight to lvl 3, which at least have some sort of challange.
LvL 1 missions and lvl 2 missions are designed for newer players, to teach them the basics of the game and how the whole process works.
Warping into a mission and insta popping everything in a AF is not fun, its boring, very boring. So boring that I've hardly been playing this week.
Atm there is no way a player that is high in SP to go straight to a agent that would provide a challange that is equivalent to his experince lvl, which is a bit silly. My time would be better spent ratting or running plexes, but then, that doesn't effect my standing, does it?

well its the consequens of the choises we make. I can't talk to any caldari agents as i have kill to many caldari navy on missions for gallente.
One can also raise standing by doing hauler mission, but that take skills for good indy/transpot/freighter -ships
there are no super-fast ways to lvl 4 agents. Only mission running with high social and connection skills, is the fast way to do it :)

You could locate a station with 2 lvl 2 agents cancel looting and just take 2 missions at the time.. That speeds up the standing gain a bit.. But i can highly recommend connections skill at lvl 4 as this would cut the time needed by several weeks.. It could be done in a week's hard (and boring) work Personally have I done the same with the Amarr navy and it took me about a weeks play with connections lvl 4 and 2 lvl 2 agents ----------------- /Lord Drachenfels |

Okay, maybe it's not the time so much, but rather the method.
IE: if I could piggy back on someone else doing lvl 3/4 missions, I would gain the same amount of standing as I would if I was doing a lvl 1/2 mission and at the same rate, perhaps slower.
Its that these lvl 1 & 2 missions are so boring, I can't even physically force myself to do them, I fall asleep before/during/after the mission, I woken up a couple times sitting in empty space. I don't pick up loot, I'm basically just grinding them.
Perhaps a higher lvl rank 5 connections skill is needed then, so the same time that I would have spent grinding missions, I could just train for the standing.
I'm not looking for a easy or quick way, I'm just looking for way that doesn't have me wanting to put a drill to my head grinding the lower lvl missions.

You might try looking into doing some lvl 1 COSMOS agents for the Caldari Faction. They are usually about 4-6 parts, and the last one is always a faction mission. It will probably be boring, will probably require a little hauling (GASP!), but it would be quick way to gain a faction boost.
Also, if grinding the kill missions is that boring maybe you should try grinding courier missions. At least then you can AFK 90% of the time. A nano-ed out lvl 1 hauler should be plenty of room to do lvl 2 courier missions.
Finally, I believe shoving a charisma implant into your brain might improve your standings. They are the cheapest implants to get.

I am rather new and the only ship I can fly are bantams and condors. ><
So, I have decided to find a nice station within caldari space with a few courier agents. At the moment the station I live in has 5 courier agents ranging from level 2 to 3 and my standing is increasing quite fast + I'm able to get storylines faster by doing multiple courier misisons at once \o/
I have made 1.3 with the corp and 0.34 caldari state standing in one evening while reading the background stories on eve-o. Additionally, I earned enough ISK to buy myself the advanced learning skills.

I just checked, you have 0.84 w/ Caldari Navy and no Caldari standing. You need faction bad. Here's the easy way:
Buy 15 copper Gurista tags. Goto each Caldari starter system. Talk to the agent outside the station, get the mission to get 5 tags. Since you have tags in your hold, insta-complete the mission by re-opening a convo with the agent.
Do this in each of the 3 systems. Now you'll have Caldari faction. Train social to lv 3. You should be able to get lv 3 (low ql) agents now.
Keep watching the map (with "my agents" ticked) for the bigger green dots, hopfully you'll see lvl 3 agents start to appear.
(I hope this still works, I heard a rumor that agents were broke.)
Good luck! --

Does this have a negative impact on other standings? Or does it only increase your Caldari standing?

They have removed these agents. I spent a couple of hours visiting the nearby system. The only NPC in space i have found was a civilian vessel, but when trying to convo the pilot I received the message that the pilot is not an agent
