Something even more meaningless than bounties is kill rights on people with -10 sec status. Either people will shoot at them or run away from them.

If you do a lot of PVP bounties will boost your income but surely other factors decide whether you are going to attack another player ? It has no practical use other than saying well done.

His choice was to put a bounty on me, and because that i've choosen to keep the ore.

Ummm, damn. Bounties are like an infectious disease that everyone wants to share! LOL!

First of all, you dear reader hoping to find a post about to remove the bounty off me, a rant about how unfair it is to get a bounty on or where I show on the doll the spot the bad pilot touched me, I shatter them instantly.

Tonight, while trying to find a good spot to perform my bear, high sec activities, I go scout a belt in my home system, a high sec isolated place I use to mine while writing at the pc. However tonight I wasn't alone, someone was mining in a covetor.

Usually I would have left him alone, knowing that probably it was a bot, but suddenly something so stupid came to my attention, something so incredibly stupid that was too good to be true. I know the basic rule of EvE that says "if something is too good to be true, it probably is", but I couldn't resist. This person was jettisoning his cargo into a giant freighter container, and there, in front me, was a gigantic can, full of ores ready to be taken. By me, and my skiff.

I approached the can, got a full haul, and flew back to my pos. Four times. After a bit I get a blinking mail message from concord, saying this person has placed a bounty on me. Said bounty far exceeded what I've taken from him, and this made me smile.

I decided to write him an in game mail, thanking him for the gesture, and his answer was another bounty of the same size of the first, effectively doubling it.

This person quadrupled his loss by placing a bounty on me, a bounty no one will ever cash in as everybody should know that you have to kill 5 times the value of the bounty to cancel it completely. And for the record, killing an industrial alt that sometimes undock in a tanked skiff to mine 10 minutes a week or to move BPC from the design lab to the assembly array of the very same pos is a true perfect storm and said person deserve a slice of the bounty on my head.

Now I wont lose my sleep over me getting a bounty on my head because... what's the point, and that's I'm asking to the community, what's point in the bounty system? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

P.s. I admit I don't like stealing, if this person asked his ore back I would have given them back. Strangely he preferred to rage at me by placing a bounty.

A few things here.

1) This is eve, and therefore he'd have to be totally nuts to think he could just ask you for his ore back and receive it. It would be different if you took it by mistake, but you clearly willfully took it as a conscious decision, and therefore asking you to change your mind and give it back would not, in his mind, work at all.

2) The fact that he placed these kinds of bounties on you shows that he is inexperienced in this game. So, basically, you..
