The removal of language channels was a harder hit on ''newbies'' but then no one gave a damn about newbs in general as the amount of posts in it shows.Offcourse you care about ''your newb '' but then he has the same easy acces as we all had in the old days to deklein , a shuttle after DT does the trick every time and if he's a few months old noob he can enjoy the bubble-immune interceptor changes. We used to fly badgers solo down to feyth without scouts daily and survive , i'm sure a newb can manage half the amount of jumps in a frig/shuttle/ceptor/covops .
As much as it astounded me no one gave a crap about the removal of those channels as they impact newbs -and no they don't impact me as i haven't been in my native language channel for years- i oddly enough was hoping it now would be the vets turn for some changes ... guess i got what i asked for.
Now let's intensely enjoy this thread shall we ...

Thought that there were lots of ways already. Interceptors, deep space transports, convoys ....you know, all the things that the stone-age players from around 2006 used?
Actually we just used badgers and bestowers and managed to get into every region we wanted.

Basically we didn't fully think of all the things this would effect before suggesting it, but who cares. Boldly going where no man has gone before!
Yeah god forbid the newbs have to try 3 times to get passed that one gate camp and loose a whooping 10 M due to clone and shiploss .We all know that after the entry pipe the rest of the trip no matter how many jumps is peanuts for the last 6 years.
The reasons stated why this can't/shouldn't be done from the players only shows CCP is actually finding where they went wrong over the last years and it looks like they are cleaning out those wrongdoings one by one now.Don't remove the ships you added just remove the abilities they shouldn't have to begin with.
Looks to me like CCP finally got it back on track , verry anxious to see the next change proposals.
The only thing i do disagree with is the new effect on JF's , they could loosen that one up a bit .

Eliminating the possibility of them, on top of warp speed changes that killed off battleship doctrines, just makes this game not worth playing.

So you're saying you rather have one massive brawl once a year then a crapload of better fights throughout the whole year?Seems odd as BRAVE allways says they are about fun-fights , especially as if i recall right one of your main FC's for example wasn't too happy with PL interfering with your fights vs provi , you know the type of interfering this whole ''nerf'''is trying to solve. Not to mention the station-egg that got supered out of existance ....

I agree , this should only hurt the fighting capitals and not the logistics teams. They allready have one of the most utterly boring jobs in eve , i'd rather mine then be part of a logistical wing and i REALLY hate mining.
If you leave out the JF's then at least the small guys will have a good way of getting their smallscale pvp stuff in place and the bigger guys have a way to go for those big wars in non capital ships as those will probably be left home a lot of the times with the new changes coming into affect.

With the amount of people you have not much is gonna stop you baltec , something you allready know probably.
It's gonna take one hell of a lot of nerfs and changes but if it in the end will remove the ability to form large ''visible'' coalitions on the battlefield at the end of the day then the goal is achieved.I've been in many of the nullsec sides and i had my time of fun there but you shouldn't be able to say with a straight face that you can enjoy these large coalitions effect on the game.At the end of the day the problem is that CCP needs to have player influence to decide if something will have a too drastic impact on a game YET at the same time they can't be led too much by those same players who they are targetting as they all have their own agenda wich they will do their best to defend.
If you where just out for fixing nullsec and making it more fun you would disbanded the CFC for starters , but that would mean another entity would pick up your spot and carry on as if there where no changes made at all.Well gues what , to the people outside those powerblocs that would make no difference , so the ''+¡f we don't do it someone else will'' line is just something one likes to tell himself to have a feeling he is not out for pure own gain.Compare it with finding a dollar bill on the ground , you'll take it and put it in your pocket because otherwise the guy behind you would do it anyway , yet that still doesn't make you anything better or less then him in the eyes of a neutral observer.

I just wonder how much revenue CCP will not be getting because I know of at least 45 accounts (some with multiple character training) that have been canceled due to this. It removes their ability to move their mining materials out to sell them.
You can scream ''loosing subs'' all day long but at the end of the day none of you gave a damn about the language channels being removed wich will have a huge impact on the amount of fresh blood sticking to eve.The vetthreads of loosing subs , unlike newbro's not going past their trial period, is something eve players just love to stick into CCP's nose yet they hardly ever really stick with those threats.I'd even dare say quite the opposite , you're mineral mover might want to have even more accounts as he then can put them somewhere halfway along the logisticsline to keep the overal time spend on the same level.
We've seen it with the titan nerf thread , how many people claimed to unsub those titan chars then and how many pages long was it?Yet here we are with more titans and titanchars then we ever had in this game , odd isn't it?

I'm feeling like we are heading back to pre Jump Freighter era, when most nullsec traffic had to go throu lowsec with much risk involved and.. well effort. Definitely lowsec will become a place what it was once in the past, without hundred strong alliances ready to hotdrop you anywhere, anytime. The least lowsec needs is powerblocks. For all small - medium lowsec entities it's a Christmass time! For nullsec it also brings a major change - most obvious is that it will be very hard to hold and control vast areas of space throu limited fleet ranges. Great job CCP, Hornestly, you brought back a hope to my heart that game will go in the right direction, also you just earned my 420 Euros from subbing all may accounts for a year upfront. Well, here's a thing Hasher: if that is the objective, wouldn't it just be simpler to actually go back? Remove JF , nerf even harder other Capital jump capability, reimburse all related SP etc.?
The thing is , the ships that where added later on where added for a good reason and where an improvement. However they just had a little ''too much'' capabilities and now is the time to remove that extra bit.

Because spending hours gate jumping to play the game is really really boring? Every single proposed change here is about making eve slower and more boring. The predicate for doing so is that more boring will create more fights. I don't believe it. on one hand yes but on the other it means the red zone where smaller content is interrupted or avoided due to the instant strike capabilities of capitals and bridges is smaller. So, assuming that the tales of people re-subbing and all the mini-blobs waiting in nullsec/NPC space were true. You should see more action close to home. And if it's another B-R, You have all day to get there. Put some nanos on that dread.
Indeed, and this is just one of many changes . I hope in the end if everything is implemented there will be a reason/need/will to keep coalitions on a reasonable level and not the massive ones as we have now.Don't get me wrong i understand why and how they have come to grown the size they are now but it just really takes away the fun of it.Last time i was with FCON for half a year i remember that before and after the last great war we used to do pvp roams wich basically meant flying 25 jumps and then getting either blobbed on or blueballed and as a result we had to fly those same jumps back. The best way to get a fight was visiting BRAVE in syndicate wich was like 25+ jumps away, if you're used to the old ways of nullsec pvp that is just really sick.
As i hadn't been in sov null the year before that it opened my eyes at just how ****** up nullsec had become. Will these and the many changes to come in the end create what most players want , well we dont know but we gotta start somewhere and with big changes so why not this?
The only bad thing i see atm is the nerf on JF's , that should be a lot lesser if you ask me.

Brilliant plan CCP if you want to kill off this game and move onto other projects because seriously at the rate your going the only ones playing your game will be Dev's. Oh wait NO players NO need for Dev's job's complete !
Seriously CCP please STOP listening to the CSM and start listening to your players an exercise some better thinking and problem solving while you still have a player base at all.
That is if you still want to see this game around in another 10 years !
Changes are needed to keep things fresh and interesting but your plans are a nerf bat too far.
264 pages of comments in 3 days and that number will rise significantly by the time you implement these changes. That speaks volumes at the amount of disgruntled players your about to cause to quit.
No , that speaks volumes about how nullsec inhabitants have become afraid of changes.
What you suggest will let the game die off in X years , what CCP suggests is giving the game a good kick wich may result in a short term player drop but in the long run a more attractive game for new people to get into.

Leaving the game as is, EvE stays stagnant for sure. Going out to the wild MAY fail to change anything but MAY also work.
Which of the two approaches is more practical? Stay as is as you say and sit in a stagnant ethernity or at least try doing something?
Yep. We don't know exact subscription numbers because CCP stopped releasing them (for fairly obvious reasons), but we can see from eve-offline that the weekly average logons is down by a third in the last year. Lowest since 2007, and no sign of the plummet stopping. That's exactly why they're taking this drastic a step - they see the writing on the wall. Two big invincible blobs dominating Eve and then squeezing the life out of it was probably always inevitable at some point - I suspect they've long known this was likely, and had a rough plan to deal with it.
I doubt they had a plan for it , i'm more inclined to think that they shrugged it off for years saying ''well if coalition X dies to coalition Y then i am sure everyone in coalition Y will also go back to playing as small coalitions again '' and we all know that never happened.

In light of the proposed changes to capital deployment, we have at leadership level decided to focus our activities on capital manufacturing for the next 3 months.
I want every alliance member concentrating on: 1. buying capital pilots that are currently going on firesale 2. buying and building capitals
A list of strategic systems will be posted on our forums of where to store your capitals. Many players are claiming this change will stop force projection, we thought about it and rather than not adapt our aim is to have a capital fleet at our disposal in any area of the map. Our solution is quite simple focus on capital readiness by having capitals "to-go" in any area of eve. It will only take you 20 minutes - 30 minutes to use the jump bridges to high sec and move your pod across New Eden to our strategically placed capitals.
You all know me and I am all about adapting, this is us adapting.
See you on the battlefield Alliance leaders
Gotta love this. If that letter is real then it really depends on the size of the alliance and number of systems they intend to have capitals in. Most players have at most one carrier and one dread. Telling them all to suddenly acquire a few hundred capitals and dozens of capital arts each is simply a joke.

That's impossible. Eve players are always mad about ANY type of change in their game. This extreme change is needed
Yup and i predict that every of the other new changes inbound in the next 6 months will get the same number of replies.

Yup because everyone who agrees with this change MUST be an empire dweller.I outdo you in : amount of isk killed, amount of ships killed and especially more important solokills and nope they where not in high-sec.
But please keep on being so naive as to think the only ones who can agree with this change are people who spend their time mining veldspar in empire , you're not the only naysayer making that assumption.

I see what they are trying to do, and I like what they are trying to do. I lived in the deep south before titans, before caps, when logistics were hard and required many jumps. You learned to build your own stuff, and when we had to do the 30+ jumps to Jita, it was a BFD, and only done when we really really had to have something that we couldn't build ourselves. Some people specialized in logistics because it was hard and dangerous and they were proud of being good at it.
Our corp at the time had a standing rule for newbies that if you couldn't get yourself to our home system, you weren't ready to join yet. Most folks spent their first months in empire, gaining skills and learning to play before even trying.
We need to get back to an eve were most fights are local, and fought and decided by and between local entities without the loser being able to appeal for immediate aid from half of Eve.
These changes are intended to go in that direction. By themselves, though, they're only changes to mechanics. What will actually have to change is player behavior. Will scrappy little guys spring up all over the map, set their neighbors red, refuse to pay rent, and start tearing away at the borders of the coalitions? If they do, the coalitions won't survive. They won't be able to project power everywhere at once.
If the players are really determined to maintain the current sea of blue standings, and hold the coalitions together, and pay tribute to their feudal lords for permission to exist, they'll figure out a way to do that. No change in mechanics will change that. Changes in mechanics can only make things possible, not mandatory.
CCP just made some stuff possible. Now its up to us.
Indeed , it will need more changes as this one change on it's own is meaningless but at least it is a start.

Congratulation now factor in the at least 3 years of PURE triage logistical game play that is with logistic ships you know them without guns, factor in the fact that these pixles have been failing to keep my attention for the past year at the lease.
You :'' You must be a carebear who never left empire because you agree with the change'' Me:'' Nope i was in empire when you didn't even know what eve was , here's proof '' You:'' Yeah well , uhm well , but my killboardrecord is worse because of reasons''
So still you miss the point of my post , a LOT of people who agree with the changes are people who do have null experience and exactly THAT is the reason why they agree with these changes.

I predict the bigger null sec alliances will move close to high sec like goons will move to ec-par in cloud ring and base out of there and then leave the deep space so small fish like me Considering the nature of EVE gates and the whole 'you must pay a toll' concept of getting from deep Null to High Sec, this is a reasonable conclusion. I would predict another scenario. HQ on the High Sec rim, Renters on the crusty outside of the blue donut. I am totally fine with this as long as ccp puts "freeport" stations across 0.0... that way i can base out of anywhere in space as it was NPC space I would rather reverse your idea and make jita 4 - 4 conquerable the tears would kill the forums in seconds about people loosing stuff bwahahaha
And yet this thread has created more tears then all the burn jita threads together , how insightfull you are.

CCP think at least once about, it is not always the easiest way for you, that is the best for your customers, whose money you want to have. We want play, forming teams and fleets with much different roles inside, complexity and we want use our brain (from time to time) not simply reduction of jumprange with a stupid timer... risk vs reward... all i see is the easiest way for ccp and less fun for us.
Teamplay, escort a freighter through null. Done. Risk vs reward, done. They need to remove jumps altogether. Then you'll really have teamwork. I laughed when I saw 'escort a freighter'. I've seen several escorted freighters with Outpost pods. I saw them because they were killmails. It doesn't work. This is where the flaws of this whole thing fall apart. I guess all those successful freighter escorts everyone used to have to do before jump freighters were introduced were just everyone's collective imagination.
Appearantly we're too old in eve to play on ''hardmode'' doc ....
