Do these things not have windows? How is it possible that one would have no knowledge of what lies just off the dock of an enormous technical marvel of a space station? Seems to me a quick look out would tell you what's out there. Maybe not who's out there but certainly what's out there.

And because you are in a completely different environment within the program, when you are inside the station. The client does not know anything about what's going on in space when one is docked. How the hell do you open the door so you can go find a window to look through? Solve that and the problem fixes itself.

You are still not paranoid enough. We are capsuleers. At the same time admired, feared and loathed by the rest of New Eden.
Your pod is the only place where your survival is ensured without some sort of loss. Who would entrust his well being to a window?
But I agree, there should be some kind of information in CQ about what's going on outside of the station. Remove insurance. |

But I agree, there should be some kind of information in CQ about what's going on outside of the station. Undock in pod. CTRL+SPACE. 29 seconds. Dock.
A window to space, combined with the current CQ is not going to happen, because ...
... designwise it makes no sense. ... it would be a nightmare rewriting the station part. ... too gfx heavy. ... huge restrictions in possibilities, even if the TV is used.
Not gonna happen with current station environments. I am Sol. I cook my bacon naked. Check out the newest and sexiest in New Eden Fashion! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=374461&find=unread Please send Dave Stark a mail and tell him that Sol said Hi! Thanks! |

Pff, windows are so 20th century, we have clear aluminum now according to Scotty in Star Trek - The Voyage Home.

Methinks its the ship/outside code vs. the hangar/cq code that is preventing this. This is why I think Valkyrie and EvE wont mesh together as well cause EvE servers have 1 second ticks, and Valk (and Dust) are twitch games that will need timings faster than that. |

Because you aren't actually in the station numbnuts. You are in a traffic control UI meant to simulate a station environment that is completely separate from everything else. There's a loading screen for a reason.

I do recall this kind of discussion was raised as well in the Mass Effect series - there is some great explanation out there why windows are completely useless in space faring times where sensors are THE thing Should i do anything when all 3 things on my ship are fully red?
