Do absolutely nothing.
My corp has been in and out of a few alliances. And i personally have hopped around to a few, and i've noticed one common thing about them: If they arnt a "major name" alliance, they're simply inactive.
Of all the alliances i've been in, only TEST Alliance, IT Alliance, and RED Alliance were active. These are among the largest in eve, though. Surely, some of the smaller alliances actually do something in this game, besides mine rocks all day?
Rooks and Kings seems to have grown really well, and i assume they'll be turning into one of the 'major' alliances soon. Why? Because they DO THINGS! They actually undock, and not just plan to kill people, but ACTUALLY KILL PEOPLE! This is the sole reason i think Rooks n Kings have grown. When i fought them back in fountain with IT alliance, rooks n kings were not very good, but because of their willingness to actually undock and kill, or die trying... they've grown and become very successful.
Who is in a PVP alliance and has only seen one PVP fleet in the past week? And, does any alliance that is active, want 5 really good pvp'ers? =p

I love the way some players expect other people to do things for them. Why don't your corp arrange to do things and lead the alliances you've been in or are you too fond of being a sheep and told what to do and when to do it? |

Actually, I think this thread would've worked much better with the title being "I love Rooks and Kings" and the body saying "Are Rooks and Kings recruiting? I totally want to join them and so do 4 of my friends."
That way the monocle-clad chap up top would be seen more as asking for some **** instead of talking about how long it's been since he had some good **** and how he heard that Rooks and Kings gives really good ****, hint hint. |

You've got it backwards. If an alliance is not active, it will never become a "major name" alliance. Working as intended. |

Ocularly-sphinctered? Since he's got a case of ass-eye? Or would it be eye-anus?
Or perhaps the front of his face truly does have a bunghole. Judging from the content of his posts (or lack there-of), the rest of his skull is currently empty, so it's almost like a cask or barrel. |

Right, i've went on roams with just me and my alt before. the last one lasted 6 hours and i saw a 200 man blob, and a shuttle. Anyway, i dont play Eveonline an "MMO" to play alone.

lol all i said is they have been successful, i guess you're not allowed to even mildly complement another alliance without being their alt. I also said they werent very good, they were only successful because they bother undocking and doing things. but whatever lol

Sorry, i dont see how im 'blaming others', i was just commenting that most alliances literally do nothing. Blaming ME for that is pretty illogical.
I've been shouting at my alliance's cap pilots to convince them to hotdrop carriers with me... i even offered to 100% reimburse any losses and they still dont want to risk the loss
My alliance finally formed up and tried to attack the WT's who are all hiding in station now (the WT's who wardec'd US not the other way around, before you get angry that im wardecing innocent miners or something)
First action i've had in a week and the only killmail i got was a blue pod (killed him for being an idiot AFK'ing on a lowsec station, giving his bomber up to a random neutral cynabal) |

Comfort zone. It's a human tendency. It's the reason why people tolerate tyranny, oppression and corruption. It's the reason religious and political parties are followed blindly long after they stop making sense. It's why we have monopolies and oligopolies instead of competition. It's why the majority of people are mediocre. Because they're in the comfort zone.
Once you've arrived and you're "made" and can smash anyone else to pieces, there's no reason to struggle anymore. Taking on that big alliance next door - meh, that's too much hard work. We have our chunk of space and we're happy. |

Have you considered taking your friends and joining Agony or a similar, more active group? There's definitely a market out there for people who can motivate and train others in PvP, and even moreso if you can get them past some of the more common myths about it.
I've had training both under Agony Uni as well as Eternum's "Pwned Factor" corp, and they both have their merits and useful points - despite concentrating on different ship types. But both also have people who motivate and explain the mechanics involved - sometimes while in the middle of a hostile engagement (that's happened with both as well).
I would easily put a ship in harm's way for both groups (time permitting), even though I'm not a member. Same goes for my current corp/alliance, but that's for different reasons (related to my need to scratch the RP itch now and then - too much LARPing I guess ).
I may have come here from Myst Online, but that does not make me any less bloodthirsty than the average Eve player.
Just more subtle.

I think you threw everyone by complimenting another organization on the forums. Apparently that is considered bad form here.
I've watched Rooks and Kings for some time now, off an on. Definitely a group to keep an eye on, in a good way.
Down time isn't a bad thing when it's planned and that information is known to the pilots in the alliance... as long as it doesn't go on so long that it becomes the norm. If that happens people either become bored, or start getting so into their inner care bear that they almost resent getting back into the swing of combat.
I've noticed that often there is a lull right before a big expansion as well, so that any changes that occur can be tinkered with a bit in relative privacy. Then once everyone feels they have a handle on any relevant changes things begin to heat up again.
Hopefully that is all that is going on at the moment (LOL attack on Chribba aside) and things will start to get interesting again soon.

The loss of your ships has possibly caused some kind of hemorrhage, since some of our favourite fights are from when we took our early T3 gangs into fountain (20 T3, 20 Guardians). We ran at well over 90% efficiency in Fountain and against related forces and the battle report for the big Hoseen fight was particularly well received on SHC. I don't have time to link the archive version but I can find it.
Secondly, we have not grown at all. We hold at around 250 members today, though were over 350 a year ago. |
