Well, something has to be said here: While i'm mining, i'm always watching a movie or something (NOT afk), and i ignore convos, gang requests, and bumps are irrelevant. Some wannabe cops think they can spot macroers with some minor patterns, without knowing crap about something called "freedom of choice".

Your words, not mine. So, again, since all you have is suspicions where's the proof?
lol
seriously, take a look for yourself before trying to play devil's advocate... because stating that there's not enough proof just makes you look like an idiot.

Originally by: Spy4Hire Actually, there are a lot of macro miners in low sec. There are also gangs of macroers in 0.0.
I can confirm that there are inded macroers in 0.0
They mine their belts whilst having someone in a BS tank. The second you enter local, they move to a POS/SS and log off.

"Players on the various anti-macro channels repeatedly petition the same names over and over and over"
Yes, ever consider that they might not BE macro-miners, and you are harrassing them? There are names which come and go, and some which stay. This should indicate something to you by now.
Oh and Spy4Hire, have you asked a lawyer about the legal ramifications of that?
Deviana Sevidon, again, legal issues. Banning them is both a better soloution and legally unproblematical.
jbob2000, a lot of legtimate miners do that too. And if we're talking macro'ers, what *was* a KOS pilot doing taking a hauler with identical cargo into our blockade in an hauler three times in a row during the BDSM-KOS war?

Yet another witchhunt. Some people in here actually managed to find pretty solid proof that a person is using a "macro" (when people here say macro, they are actually talking about bots / scripts). The fun part is that they didnt realize it at all.
Hint: Funny names, unresponsive behaviour, efficient ways to mine are all NOT bannable. Neither is using "macros" (binding F1,F2,F3,F4,F5,F6 to a single key)
Using python script injection is.
I wont tell you what i am talking about, because its easily countered once the macro-miner starts to think about it.

Originally by: Spy4Hire Once a character is banned, and their petitions for appeal are exhausted (or not made within a certain time), then those names should be posted with the date of their first petitioning listed and the date and reason of their banning.
That will let us know that something is being done, because right now we sit here and watch the daily activities of exploiters go on untouched.
Whatever CCP release, the people who currently believe that CCP do nothing, will continue to believe it. They will just claim that the released numbers/names/whatever are being made up by Oveur during particularly wild nights out. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

It's funny how many people are convinced that they know a person is a macro miner. My first couple months in the game I made a lot of money hunting around the supposed macro miners and stealing from them. I ran into a few that acted just like macros...they did the same thing all the time, they had silly names, they all coordinated, and they didn't respond to chat.....until you truely threatened them. I'd point out in the macro hunter channels that they would suddenly become active if you destroyed the ore or can-swapped them and the standard reponse would be that it doesn't matter. I actually had conversations with these people and what they are is farmers. While many will say these are the same thing....keep in mind that the key difference is farming is legal hence why CCP does nothing.
The second point is to those who freak out that CCP does nothing. Keep in mind that CCP needs to be very very careful. One account banned unfairly for being suspected of being a macro miner and the all hell could break loose in these forums. All of the sudden people start calling it a witch hunt and complaining that CCP is banning the wrong people and still doing nothing. For this reason they need proof that the person running said account is doing something illegal. You may not care about fairness or proof....but you will when you get banned because someone didn't like you and filed a exploit petition calling you a macro miner and CCP bans you.

if you dont like your macro miners use the game mechanics.
take from thier can in a shuttle.
let them blast you! come back in a war ship and POP thier asses
best case is you make a jet can put thier ore in it. and watch them leave the system and move on.

Wow, another macro miner thread.
He's the hard truth:
Macro miners, are rare.
You are not petitioning a macro miner. You are petitioning a player who has several accounts and mines all day long every day. Usually working in a sweatshop.
They exist for one reason: To farm ISK, their boss then takes the ISK, and either sells it on the internet directly, or sells it to another ISK reseller.
Oh, and they do not just mine. They do anything that they can train the workers to do, so they do trade runs, complex farming, NPC'ing, and mining.
In order for them to be banned they must be tied to an ISK seller, and this requires time on the GM's part to do an investigation. When they have thousands of petitions to sort through, and the petition about "macro miners" aren't actually macro miners, they move onto the next petition.
