Can you play Scordite on turn 1?
The card says that you must sacrifice a location when it comes in play, but if there are no locations yet in play, can it be played? Or must a location be sacrificed for the card to come into play?
I assume this rule will apply to all sacrifice type cards as well. -----------------

Edited by: Sarqindi on 13/08/2006 09:00:40 Qual is right. And wrong. You don't have to sacrifice when it's played.
But a more accurate answer:
If you play Scordite on round 1 before any other locations are in play, you must sacrifice the Scordite to itself since it is in play when it checks for the sacrifice. |

Yes, you might be right about that. We still need the devs to rule on some of the timing aspects to fully confirm that though.

That doesn't need a dev confirmation - Sarq is right.
When Scordite comes into play, sacrifice a location
You play Scordite, and when it comes into play , it has an effect. The effect forces you to sac a location, which if you have no others, would be the Scordite itself.
You're right though, there's a lot of timing issues that aren't clarified. In fact, the game at the moment pretty much has no timing rules whatsoever, no definition of cost and effect, and so on and so forth. I've got a whole list to post when the guys are back from GCUS :)

Testy's got it.
So remember kids, don't play scordite until you've got a crappy location to sac for it. I often sac veld or pyroxeres, which I'm going to probably remove from my deck.
One scordite and maybe an omber in your home region is all the income you need in most games though.

I suggest Star Chart Enterprises with your Scordite for phat early ISK gains :)
Incidentally, according to another thread, it was ruled at Gencon if you play Scordite with no other locations in play, you get to keep your Scordite. Sounds dodgy to me, though, and I'll wait on a post from above before I start playing it that way.
