Ok and it is a big nose :)....
Pure and simple this.... People who keep undercutting prices to levels that are by and large ridiculous... ( not the loot sellers who sell 1 or 2 units - the noob producers who buy their first Blue print)
Yes I know the reply will be .... hey but its a free market ... blah blah blah... What alot of sellers/ producers dont seem to realise is some basic rules of industry
1. you dont have to beat the lowest price .... just match it - ie location of the sale is very important... eve usually selects the lowest price and the nearest location to the buyer.
2. If you want to make money then you should really include ALL costs incurred. ie a) cost of minerals you have mined. - no point in selling / making anything if the most basic of costs is ignored b) Cost of the factory - make sure you use all the days you have on it otherwise you are throwing away money ' hand over fist' c) how much did the BP cost you .....( if infinite a long term addition if fininte you have to include the cost)
Ok rant over .... but at least use a bit of common sense over pricing ....
Regards

some peoples prices are so low that I am sure if they sold the minerals that they use to make the stuff they would have made more money.

Any time I come across some noodle selling competing goods for more than 10-15% below production cost, I just buy em all up. It's always just some noob that is learning the hard way why making money manufacturing isn't going to be as easy as they thought, so the goods hardly ever reappear. I bail out the noob while keeping the market sensible. It all works out.
In a price war, I will stop undercutting at ~20-25% over production cost. Usually my sales aren't affected much by someone a few hops aways charging a few isk less for the same thing. If they undercut drastically, see above.
To be successful manufacturing, you have to produce a range of goods, (so you're not in trouble if you lose sales on 1 or 2) and keep plenty of cash reserves. And you have to be patient. Don't worry, people who sell at stupid prices take themselves out of the picture soon enough.

Hehe I saw some player selling a Exequorer for 3.3 mil on trade. I commented that was WAY to much. I told him Vexor is a better ship and cheaper and he commented that Vexor was only 2.2 mil where he was. Another person commented that he bought his Vexor for 2mil in Cist, a noob system.
Man oh man what idiots. First Idiot selling the Ex for sooo much when it only costs 1.2 mil or so to make. 2nd idiots are the ones selling the Vex at cost of production or just a bit higher ( depending on bp and skill )
3rd idiot is me for not going to buy up all the Vexors he was talking about and making 1 mil off each one for the cost of a few shuttles.
Production of ships is a uphil climb rigtht now because of Megacyte. Maybe we will see an increase in prices on good cruisers and BSs sooner than we think and those guys selling below cost will be the kicking themselves in the rear.

Nothing wrong with the exeq seller ... just trying to make more cash. In general I try to sell things at 3x what they cost. Can only do that with new bp releases and only for a few days as the compitition comes in. I usually match the lowest person, or in some cases,if they are in the same system, match or undercut a little. In general though, try to get the most I can ;p
nothin wrong with that.

Here's an even more basic rule of industry; people can sell at any price they like. If I want to produce armageddons and sell them for 1ISK, I will, whether you like it or not.
Anybody selling at a loss is going to go out of business sooner or later anyway, so I don't see why people are getting upset about it.
