I really hope that's legitimate because if it is it would have an enormous impact. |

Slashdot commenters are also poking holes in the testing: http://tech-beta.slashdot.org/story/14/10/12/232230/independent-researchers-test-rossis-alleged-cold-fusion-device-for-32-days

even if its true and it appears to be speculative ....big oil will find a way of smothering it .....as will the other energy companies ...its a lose lose all round
similar to fracking here in the uk ....theres no impirical evidence to actually suggest that fracking actualy causes mini earthquakes but public opinion to the areas that are likely to be affected are swayed by the tree huggers that just don't understand that we actually do need alternatives to what we currently have ...yet they are obsessed with wind farms and the likes that are really inefficient .
just like nuclear ...currently the cleanest most environmentley friendly way of producing energy and they even admit it ...but they are still against it !.
I just cant get me bloody head round this energy bollox
I really fkn hate tree huggers |

They don't want to call if fusion because the known principles behind fusion go against it. The process produces energy but the process doesn't necessarily need to be an actual fusion, it could be something else entirely even if it might even get to be called a cold fusion in the future if the science proves to be sound in the process. |

does it matter if its fusion or not ?.... who gives a flying ***** ?... does it work ?.... does it do the job ? is it efficient ?.... as far as im concerned it could be called unobtainium as far as im concerned .. I don't care as long as it works and its efficient I care not one jot .

Except that the "tests" were so poorly designed, everything being set up by Rossi himself, that they couldn't even verify that he wasn't supplying additional power through the "ground".
Worse, they didn't even set up a simple bomb calorimeter that would have told them exactly how much heat it was producing. Instead they invented some contrived IR detector calibrated against a half-power non-fueled run (i.e. not calibrated at all).
The single worst problem with the whole set of tests is that Rossi was the one to exchange "fuel" cartridges, so the "spent" ones he gave them to analyze he handled first.
All of these are mentioned in the links I posted above, as well as stoicfaux' slashdot link. Cynter's Law of feature suggestion: Thou shalt not suggest NPCs do something players could do instead. |

That'd be the real deal. Hot fusion with radioactive waste products. It might fit on the back of a pick-up, but you probably wouldn't want to put one there. Cynter's Law of feature suggestion: Thou shalt not suggest NPCs do something players could do instead. |
