Are there any specific rules or limitations on switching ships mid fight via a nearby ships that has a bay for it (i.e. an Orca).
Such as having a 1v1 fight dessie vs dessie, and then the target burns over to a nearby orca and boards a cruiser and points the 1st dessie before he can warp.
Question #1 Is the above scenario possible? As I have seen this target do this BEFORE he engages while he is being shot at, then he swaps ships.
Question #2 If it is possible, is this viable allowed combat?
Question #3 Does engaging another target prevent you from swapping ships for the 1 min timer? |

Answer #1:
Something like that used to be possible, the high sec gate in Amamake for a long time about 1-2 years ago was notorious for being camped by T3s who would store their ships in an Orca if anything threatening showed up in order to save their ships by jumping them into high sec while their pods warped off. However I seem to recall that they barred ships from being stored in a maintenance bay while they were under fire to prevent that sort of thing.
Answer #2:
Moot point.
Answer #3:
If you had a spare ship floating in space I don't see why you wouldn't be able to eject from one and board the other, although in practical terms yes, your 1 minute timer prevents you from changing ships. Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification. |

I have noticed some odd things then, I have attacked some ships that are being remote sensor boosted by an orca (A snipy tornado), I then warp to that tornado at 0 with a dessie to mess up his day. Part way though the shields, he insta swaps out to a rupture, and ends up messing my day. I was caught off guard and he was able to point me before I: warped away/knew what was going on.
Kill mail related https://zkillboard.com/kill/41732725/
Not sure about the game mechanics, will have to test them myself unless someone already else has that has seen this post.
However, the enemy did NOT agress before he swaped |

I'm not sure then. I was reasonably sure you couldn't store a ship that was being fired at but maybe you can, I think the ship does have to be actively aggressed to prevent it being stored though.
Any possibility at all that he swapped ships before you attacked him or you otherwise lost lock, I noticed there is faction police on your mail, could they have jammed you?
Other than that the killmail doesn't provide much to go on, I'm not saying I don't believe you, just saying I'm not yet convinced you are allowed to store ships in an Orca while being shot at. Maybe some details are missing that could be important. Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification. |

If he did not agress he can swap ships at will (i believe there is a 10 second session change each swap). If he does agress he will get a 1 minute timer and can no longer dock or swap out his ship in a maintenance array unless properly deagrod.
Assistance modules do not by themselves cause any restrictions to swapping out a ship, very much the same rules apply as RR. Once the assisted ships agresses though the whole chain goes suspect with a timer matching their target. |
