Yes, I said it. Please, CCP, bring them back. Sorry for delay, maybe I should speak sooner.
But why?
Because the new nebulae, no matter how pretty they may seem, subconsciously and not-that subconsciously push people away from wormholes.
You see - before Oceanus wormhole nebulae were so beautiful - with multiple vivid colors, combined in a special way, welcoming any visitor who is looking at them through the wormhole. When someone dared to jump in, they were immediately rewarded with the stunning beauty of these nebulae. Wormhole space was so special because of that. Someone could say that it is just background and few people care about it, but it has its influence and this can easily be felt now with the new ones. Old ones were emblematic - the green-orange cloud of C4 sites for example. Yes, wormhole space should be very dangerous, but the nebulae should not make the hint of that, they should be deceptively beautiful like before Oceanus.
I can understand that the new ones are created with the intention to make an impression for a dangerous place, full of scary things, but the effect is creating depressive experiences, and it is pretty obvious.
The new nebulae are so dark, with monotonous colors, unwelcoming, pale, vampiric, cold. The change is drastic. Personally it drives me away from wormhole space.
Based on my experience - old wormhole nebulae could successfully bring that sense of wonder and urge for exploration that is so essential for this area of space.
The new ones simply don't do that. I appreciate the work involved in creating them, but I feel that this change was not needed. They simply speak: "Go away!" to any visitor out there.
This is what I see, this is my artistic point of view. The wormhole nebulae magic is lost. Please bring it back.
For me the best solution is to revisit old wormhole nebulae, make them HD if needed and just bring them back.
People that read this - If anyone of you share this opinion, please post in this thread and let's make our voice count. |

While I do like that they made A change, I don't know if I like THE change to the nebulas. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like I'm flying in a painting and not space anymore. Don't know if I agree with going back to the old ones though. |

They do have a bit of a painted look to them - not so much that I feel like I'm flying in a painting though. A bit too smooth for my tastes I'd like a bit more depth to it. I'm kind of the opposite to the OP though I think that the w-space nebulas should look forbidding, cold and implying danger. |

My lovely ice blue pulsar is now a mucky brown... Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

Agree with everything said in the OP.
I understand that effort went into them but it just makes WH space look boring, frankly. A redone version of the originals would be far better. |

the old ones were much better. They stood up to time very well, and even after the K-space nebulas were changed, they still managed to look epic. Each class of space had their own unique colours and tones, the deep blue darkness of C5 with the orange brilliant nebulas in the distance, the strange alien mix of orange and green in C4s, it was awesome.
I'd not necessarily say bring back the old ones, but the new ones could definitely do with some improvement. They all feel very flat, and lack the depth that old wormhole space had.

Thanks for the support guys.
I got an idea.
Let's show our growing nostalgia by posting screenshots of the old wormhole nebulae!
Use the hashtag #WHSkyNostalgia in twitter along with the usual #eveonline and #tweetfleet . Post the screenshots using one of the picture sharing sites out there and link them here if you want to. Add any story involved with the screenshot and don't forget to mention that you miss the classical wormhole nebulae.
Let's not aim to criticize too much. We all want better EVE and I believe that constructive feedback and solid arguments are always the way to go.
What we want is to bring back the iconic, classic nebulae that we love so much in our wormhole homes.
I will start by posting one screenshot. This is the sky around one of our alliance home systems out there in the wild. Look at the golden cloud. I miss this view so much. Felt so cozy and warm.

-1 to OP, new nebulae are kick ass. Just give some more black between all those colours.
Really, old nebulae back would mean that c5s look like a *95er paintjob, c4s like vomit and c3s like my grandma's hair. "I honestly thought I was in lowsec"

I completely agree. Before my wormhole was colourful, vibrant and wondrous. Now, it's just dark and boring. It can't for the life of me understand why CCP would think this is a good change. Post with your main, like a BOSS!
And no, i don't live in highsec. -áAs if that would make your opinion any less wrong. -á |

When I heard WH nebulas were being updated I was happy. The original WH nebula wern't bad but I was looking forward to the higher res and at times fairly spectacular nebula that you see in K space.
Then I saw what see what CCP updated the WH nebula too.
Too bland, too similar to each other.
CCP you know people live there right ? Would you want to live in a grey, brown and mauve house, that was very similar to every other house in the area.. dont you think that might get a bit boring after a while ?
CCP could have borrowed from real life nebula... so many good options -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebula

Too divided on this one. While new c 5 is beautiful, it's not as frightening as it used to. Same for C6. I would suggest more colors in the c4, it doesn't have to be vomit (yay) and frankly c2-c1 could use some love. But yeah, changes were needed ^-^ Murderous Inc. wants woobs (does that work as "wormhole newbies"?) |

Alright, I thik that some more words should be said about that. It is more serious than some might think.
It is clear that many things in EVE will change with time. But some things, especially the ones we love best, will be constant.
No matter how many strange and new things happen in wormhole space there should be something that will always remind us of Apocrypha. This can easily be one of the best expansions of all time during the EVE history and I see no better way to keep our memory fresh - the old wormhole nebulae can do this for us. As far as I know they have been introduced with the expansion and have been there all this time. Unlike the old generic K-Space nebulae, they were region based right from the start and did not need any significant changes.
I see that our devs like to experiment and shake things up but changing the wormhole sky this way was not needed. This change would mean that we want to leave Apocrypha behind, giving up the energy and pilot excitement that it brought to our realm. Some may disagree. But actually this is what can happen on a mental level with wormhole residents. You know that when the sky is filled with dark clouds most people feel depressed and if there are white clouds here and there with sun rays shining through them, most people feel good. The same thing can be felt when looking at some nebula in space.
Once again - no matter how drastically the wormhole gameplay change, there should be a costant remainder of the glorious Apocrypha time and the best way to do this is by bringging back and revisiting the old wormhole nebulae. Even after the new K-Space skies arrived these wormhole star clouds stood out as one of the most beautiful sights in space around. This should be noted. We need them back.
This is my two cents for this thing. I like to contribute for better EVE in the best way possible. www.veskin7.blogspot.com - my EVE related blog. |

The nebulae and wormhole color changes were far more upsetting to me than any of the other wormhole changes added in Hyperion. I used to have them all memorized.
And it's not just about having to memorize new colors (and they are harder to tell apart now) or them not being pretty enough. It's the fact that they're all so similar. It was bad enough when C4s got a second static and so many new wormholes made everything so connected. Now they even look the same. Each class used to have a unique feel which was directly tied to the type of statics it had (C2 highway, C3 backdoor to null, C4 isolation, C5 "big boy playground"). Now it's just a big pile of homogenized mush, and looks it to boot. www.ensignyooch.wordpress.com
