I started playing eve back in early 2004 under the character name Kaleeb. On my second day in the game I thought it would be a good idea to go and explore 0.0. My first jump in landed me in a Black Omega Security gate camp and I was promptly sent back home via pod express. Since then I have several good memories of famous alliances/corps and people:
Force of Evil (FOE) - A few months after the above incident I joined a pirate corporation based in the Mara/Dantumi area called Shadow Squadron and we ended up with the Force of Evil alliance which was based out of OBE and was a combination of the most dysfunctional, colourful and crazy pirate corps such as Forsaken Empire and Corp 1. We were led by Foyle and an often drunken C4w3. We had some great fights against Xetic (the alliance before ASCN) and the newly formed Mercenary Coalition.
The Five - What's not to like about flying with ATUK, Shinra, M.Corp, Supremacy, Black Omega Security! I'd joined the game around the time Curse Alliance disbanded and having heard so much about them I was keen to see what these powerhouse corporations were all about. There were some fantastic pilots in the alliance and I even got to chat to Commi and the rest of Black Omega who had welcomed me into eve so warmly! However joining The Five led to my first big break from eve. The most notable memory is fighting Red Alliance. We started so strongly, rapidly taking huge areas of territory and winning most of the meaningful fleet fights. However RA were so resistant and determined, they embraced the logistical challenges of POS warfare and gradually took back their space. They were putting up towers faster than we could take them down! After fighting what has to be the worst and most draining POS war eve has ever seen against Red Alliance I was burnt out and quit the game for awhile! A special shout out has to go to MACTEP and the rest of RAT for being excellent opponents!
Celestial Apocalypse - The chance to join the "white knights" of eve was too good to be turned down. I'd heard about there infamous Yulai camps and fights against Curse alliance and was keen to see what they were like. When I first joined they had just moved to Fountain to fight against Xelas and Bob. When I looks back it still amazes we what a group of 30 good pilots and one Scotsman can accomplish. Over several months we beat Xelas in a series of fights where we were often outnumbered. Gradually they pulled back further away from us and called in Bob to help them.
The next several months saw Bob rotate one of their four corps against us each month. We had a series of fights against them but gradually we were worn down as we were unable to make isk easily to replace losses while they rotated with fresh pilots. Outbreak then joined us and gave us a fresh breath of life which resulted in some fantastic fun 80-100 man fleet fights.
Mercenary Coalition I joined MC while they were still the roaming menace they started out as and before they become a space holder. Definitely the most organised and strategic group I've played with. They were ruthless killers who had a great talent for setting traps and causing a lot of grief to their targets. My regret is that I joined when I wasn't that active and probably didn't give my best while I was part of the group. Still I have some good memories and North Star Networks will always be a corp I wish I could have joined - if only I was Swedish!!
Omniscient Order Those old enough to remember Cult of Cthulhu will know that Omniscient Order grew from it's ashes. Pound for pound these guys are the best I ever flew with. For such a small group we punched so far above our weight. There were some amazing pilots such as Mitchman, Noobjuice, Jamesw, Hzub and Elgan and it's the one group I probably felt I learned the most from and always felt that bit slower than the rest :)
End of essay!
