While it appears the Yosemite is not supported. i am running eve on 2 separate set ups with no issues to my knowledge. 1 mac pro with a gtx760 card and the other a 27inch iMac (mid 2010). I will check our macbook pro and other iMacs as well this week to see how it runs but I didn't realize 10.10 wasn't supported because I have had no issues to my knowledge. -Oh take that back I get a 1minute timer on one of the computers but not the other whenever I shoot something in a mission. its the timer you get that says you shot another person.. not the normal aggression timer in yellow... the red one. |

I can't even launch the EVE client, the launcher works, but when I log in, it just does nothing. Can't manually launch client from within the .app package either.
Went from running EVE with max settings to not being able to even launch it. Only thing i haven't tried is deleting the current install and reinstalling fresh.

It worked just fine for me after upgrading from Mavericks (10.9), but it also works just fine on a fresh Yosemite (10.10) install.
No troubles whatsoever.

Can we please have some more information about this? Almost 6 months have passed since the first Yosemite Beta and the only thing we've heard from you so far is this one sentence. Please CCP, show some love for your Mac costumers and at least let us know if it's being worked on or tell us a rough timeframe! |

For 27" screens there's even a specific resolution that takes the menu bar and window top into account. It would be great to have the clients remember on which monitor they are supposed to run.... :)

Does anyone have issues with shortcut keys not working? For example, fittings window when docked? Mine just refuse to work.
Also, I found another issue whereby if you run Avast Antivirus, it will prevent session changes more often than not and therefore you just get stuck. I've removed Avast and have zero issues anymore.

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to update all the mac users on info i have found.
First of all I had eve working for over a month on 10.10 fine but i did notice the new os made things a bit slower, frame rate and speed of loading.
anyway i started up eve one night and nothing it just would not work. i tried....
App nap trick Zap the P-Ram Cleared the cache on the client Run the Mac repair tool Uninstalled eve and did a fresh download and install.
Still the same issue......
At this point being an Network and Security engineer i hit it with my full suite of tools and found all sorts of issues like the client starting but no packets for eve on the wire i could go in to real indepth captures and explain them but you will just end up having nose bleeds like i did.
so at this point things are not adding up DNS lookup from eve client iare working but no packets after. so i hit the apple forums (yes i feel dirty)
anyway Eve is not the only game having issues there are many many accounts on the forums ranting.
I also found a gem of a guy (not going to mention his name) who stated 10.10 is beta and based on proc dumps you can see all sorts of process's crashing the last one apple annouced they fixed was dropbox running this can cause it to go skynet and stop random network services. and system process.
so after this i though well maybe i had a corrupt update from apple as i do run some really random crap on my machine due to work so i did a complete clean install of 10.10 and the game did not work.
i went through the very boring process of rolling back to mavericks (10.9) and not only does it work i can confirm the game is 100% stable for me although i still had to do the app nap fix to stop eve instances going to sleep when multiboxing. but all in all the Frame rate is higher and the graphics are cleaner.
So not any real fix here other than do not use an OS that Eve does not yet support and where apple have ironed out all the bent code. i feel like i am running windows with the lack of support i got from apple.
a final note is apple are due to release a new OS on the 24th of Dec. do not use this if you wish to play eve and get support from the Devs. Check which OS are supported before writing a complaint to the devs.

I have a late 2009 27" iMac running 10.10.1 and EVE does not really work. I can log in and do things in stations no problem (i.e. my station trader is doing fine). The problem starts when I try to undock. About 80% of the time the client freezes...sort of. The space environment loads and all my windows appear to be working...your only indication that something is wrong is when you try to activate a module or warp somewhere or well...anything. The module buttons appear to be "pressed" but they don't activate. The voice come on to say "Warp Drive Active", but you don't actually move. You can bring up the "escape" menu, but pressing quit, just closes the window...you don't quit. The only way to fix it is to "force quit" the application and log back in. In that case, the system loads and works fine about 80% of the time. Of course, once you dock then undock, it screws up again.
It is very odd to me that with over 6 months to get ready for 10.10 they don't seem to have any kind of plan to support it yet. One would think that they would at lease be able to say if they are working on it or not.
For my part, I will be upgrading to a 5K iMac sometime this winter and I plan to play EVE on Windows (via boot camp). I haven't been all that active in the last several months. Of course now that I know its not working, I want to play again. Oh well. |

Just to add my two cents worth.
I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and the game is pretty much unplayable. I have resorted to playing with no sound as it seems to be a little more stable for me. However, I constantly get lockups/freezes/crashes. Playing windowed and full screen.
Can't force quit either. I've lost count the amount of times I've had to do a cold boot of the machine
I'm seriously contemplating rolling back to Mavericks. Just need to back up the machine now. |

Hi all
I've been having the same issues with constant freezing, crashing and exceptions in Yosemite. I didn't try running for a few days, and when I launched today and allowed the launcher to install the latest patch it all seemed to be working fine. Any others now running ok on Yosemite? |

Looks like I spoke too soon - the problem has returned for me too. CCP have confirmed in a response to a support ticket that they have not made any changes which would improve performance on Yosemite.
What I have found is that disabling audio completely makes a significant difference. In fact, it has made the client completely stable for me. I have also turned all of the graphics options to minimum, so I was unsure whether this was causing the improvement. However, when I re-enabled audio the instability came back, even with the graphics still on minimum. I haven't yet set the graphics back to high quality as I'm mining right now, but I will try this and report back. I'm wondering if any other pilots have had success by disabling audio? |

Just to reiterate what has already been stated, my Eve client continues to crash randomly during gameplay after my upgrade to Yosemite 10.10.1.
I have sent the crash report to Apple as well as have the data sent to CCP checked so they should be getting these data reports. Hoping for a fix soon!
Also, the crash can take place within seconds of starting the client to several hours into gameplay, seemingly at random. At times, the entire Mac will restart. This is a 2011 iMac. |

Hi Guys,
I see many people are still having issue regarding 10.10.
First thing. Yosemite is not supported by CCP. now that is out of the way.
poor performance is due to Yosemite using beta drivers for graphics this i can confirm on my 2014 mac, this is probably the same reason for crap sound too but i never had any issues with sound when i had it running.
If your mac is freezing up look up app nap fix for app in 10.8 + in a nut shell you need to exclude some parts of the eve client from going in to app nap.
to all you guys that say it is working fine on Yosemite, it is just a matter of time before it stops working, i had 10.10 running from the day it was released and it was about 4 weeks in when eve stopped running i have a dedicated mac to run eve and work from a different mac for my job so the only thing installed on it is eve so there is no conflict with apps.
If you can roll back to mavericks it is stable (this takes about 2 hours) i run over 6 clients at the same time and no issues, even getting the test server works fine on Mavericks.
If you want me to post the app nap email me or just search youtube some chappys did a nice vid on how to do it.

I have had huge success getting Eve to run under Yosemite using Winebottler:
http://winebottler.kronenberg.org
I used the development version because it specifies Yosemite support. It's easy to download and install Winebottler:
1. Download the Windows version if the Eve installer, and I also downloaded the offline installer files. 2. When you run Winebottler, select the Advanced tab. 3. Then click on "select file" and choose the Eve installer .exe file. 4. Tick the "self contained" box. 5. Leave all the other options as default and hit Install. 6. Pick a location for the app, enter "EVE" as the filename, and press Save. 7. The app will be created, and then the Eve installer will pop up. Click through the default installer options and wait for Eve to be installed inside the self-contained wine app. 8. You will be prompted to select the startfile (the programme which is executed when you double click the app). Click on the dropdown menu and select "Program Files/CCP/EVE/launcher/launcher.exe". Press OK 9. You should get a message saying "prefix created successfully" 10. Press OK and quit the Winebottler app 11. Go to the location where you saved the EVE app. It will have a default icon. Double click the icon. 12. I had a problem where I saw a message saying 'Preparing "EVE"' with "Copying prefix" at the bottom, and the message would not go. If this happens to you, force quit the app and it should continue running. On subsequent occasions this should not happen
Beyond this, run Eve just as you normally would. I've been running in a window with audio enabled and graphics on full quality. The game has been faster than CCP's Cider port of Eve for the Mac, and significantly more stable. I got lockups a couple of times per day even under Mavericks, but this doesn't seem to happen at all running under Wine.
Hope that helps some other pilots out there! |
