I just installed DirectX 9c (august) for another game (FEAR Combat) and it completely screwed up the graphics in Eve. When I am in the station everything is fine. When I exited the station, the graphics were completely screwed up-lines everywhere, huge areas that were just black, etc. It was bad enough that the game is not playable, although technically I still runs, I guess. Also, there are long pauses where the game freezes up. This afternoon before installing the new DirectX 9c (august) everything was fine. Devs please investigate this. Thanks.

FWI-I was able to fix this using system restore, but beware of installing said DirectX update.

I have been using DirectX 9c for a long time now and I do not have the problems you describe. From your description it sounds more like a hardware or driver error, you might want to try the following: - deinstall graphics driver - install directx 9c - install latest version of graphics driver

I would be lead to believe also that it is not DX9.0c As I have also been using it for months and with Eve with no problems at all XP Professional Direct X 9.0c Current XP Niv Geforce Drivers

DirectX 9.0c here also (4.09.0000.0904) Ati 9600m chip
No problems running the game
I also agree that DirectX 9.0c is not causing the problem. ----

This is the very newest version of DirectX 9c, called DirectX 9c (august). I was using the first DirectX 9c before updating for the FEAR multiplayer, and everything was working fine. It was definately this update of DirectX, as I was playing Eve an hour before this with no problems. Also, the new DirectX screwed up other games as well, and a system restore to the day before, with no change other than the DirectX update, fixed the problem. Evidence is overwhelming that the DirectX update was the problem.

Although I guess it could have been the game itself.

It could also be a Windows XP issue. Sometimes reinstalling the OS helps. Of course, I run a dedicated gaming computer, so I don't have any school or work files on it, so reinstalling isn't an issue for me. ------------------------------------------------- Through war we eliminate the weak, through war we develop technology, through war we hone our skills.
