I'd like to be able to save interface settings to a say ".evi" file, and to be able t both back this up and to share it with others.

nope i dont like this idea. not thought out enough maybe you should come up with a better reason as to why, the programers want you to be able to share more of their program with other people.

At least when Maya disagrees with something it's a literate response.

If I ever see you in local..... that being said:
Local settings are improperly setup by most players, saving these settings for corp newbies could be very nice. A more advanced overview is needed, it's too easy at a gate for someone to show up and be locked by accident.
This would make it possible for people to share their uber in-game overview configs, I have two characters and last patch it was a real PITA to make all my overview config sets again.
Just make EVE settings more exportable/importable than they currently are, including bookmark folders.

you do know threats in forum, are not to be tolorated, even the suggestion that your going to greif my character is a threat i take very seriously. im offended, that a comment i directed to maya makes you upset enough to thresten me. wheres the maturity in that, what are you like 10.
and whats wrong with the argument, im just challengeing her for a more detailed reason. while making her idea sound stupid or worse because it would effect me. its the same thing she does to all of us, so why can't i do it to her. usually, i'm more sympathetic to everyone else, but most of mayas remarks to my ideas and many others have been cutting and hurtful, weather she means it or not is despite the point.
funny how the one person i aimed this response to hasn't come back with anything yet, but thats ok i know she will. i can see valid reasons for her suggestion, but i can also see invalid reasons for it. so basically do the pros outweigh the cons.
ps there is a folder thats already on your computer that has this information in it. so why would they want to duplicate it in another folder. i'm at work at the moment, so i'm not going to lookit up.

Edited by: Reggie Stoneloader on 10/09/2006 02:32:19 Backing it up would be nice for me, since I configured my settings myself and like them, but I have to say I'm generally against the idea of exporting configurations to newbies. Holding their hand like that doesn't do them any real good, and just retards their development.
So yes to the file for backup purposes, but no to the "sharing". EvE's a hard world, with hard lessons. I lost more than I could replace in a podding that could have been averted with informed use of the overview. It should be incumbent upon all EvE PvPers to learn how to use the meager tools available to them to the greatest possible effect.
