I reckon an Archon would look good if we went the USB way. Its long and flat, just like most USB sticks. ------------------- Management and Leadership ы The Eve-online Guide |

it would't take ages to load the game due to data transfer rates. you could keep you cache folder with it. a usb stick is smaller and less likely to get damaged or even broken.

The major issue is that flash hardware is write-limited. As of four years ago, flash would start getting wonky after 100,000 writes. It's probably better now, and for most applications it's fine, but the whole cache thing kind of worries me...

Edited by: ZigZag Joe on 03/09/2006 18:01:07 Another problem with using a usb flash drive in addition to the aformentioned limited write cycles, is that most (exempting diskonkey derivitaves, and some other ones) have low throughput with small files. This is bad as eve deals a lot with small files(cache folder). Perhaps have a modified version that puts the cache into a temp folder on the HD, while keeping the settings on the flash?
http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/flash2005.ars/9 The Kingston and Verbatim are both diskonkey derivatives.
It would be cool though; EvE-themed flash drives. Megathron comes to mind

You can already do it for everything except errors? тттттттттттт VIP member of the [23]
