Well Eve is enjoyable fun and is always growing and more and more players coming on board. As I was looking at all the wonders of the game I could not help but think how sweet it would be for CCP to make a Eve RTS game. Reverse of what World of Warcraft did. With all the ships, races, mods and systems it could be quiet the RTS game. If the developers made Eve this good and making it better imagine what they can do for a RTS.
Just a thought..

I'd like CCP to look at liscencing the development of it to a dedicated RTS making company. It's a brilliant setting, but I don't think CCP themselves have either the specific extertise with RTS engines or need the diversion from their core product.

In large-scale 0.0 combat, EvE sort of is an RTS.
It's a great IP, though, and I'd be interested in seeing more done with it. Since Blizzard's probably gunshy about StarCraft after the Ghost debacle, I think EvE's the most interesting SciFi setting around right now. The more Bungie fleshes out Halo, the lamer it seems to get.

the thought of ccp franchiseing other eve-spinoff games is deffinately drool worthy. keep the thought comming blixx
a single player game(i remember wingcommander as a good single player game), or a PvE sort of game(eve related of course, sort of more orientated towards lan partys) are a couple of other possiblities as well.

A single-player, joystick-controlled game where you rock out in an interceptor and collect floating powerups might be worthwhile.
Honestly, I'd like a game that takes place inside one of the ships. An FPS where you race through the corridors of a Ferox, leading a team of Marines wielding Small Arms, to capture the pod, disable the ship and secure its cargo.
It's a good thing I'm not involved in designing such a game, because I'd fill it with tongue-in-cheek humor and celebrity cameos.

Yeah, something like "Ground Control", for the EVE planets. Maybe the best solution would be to make a company (like the one developing GC) a partner to implement planetary warfare :-)

Was thinking just a RST mainly with mass system to control and single/multiplayer ability.
Or I can just wait for Supreme Commander to come out next year to scratch my itch. hehe

I love this idea. I've discussed it before on GameDev.net, and I stand by the notion that tying MMOs together would be a fairly rudimentary way to enrich all the involved games. Two different games, played on two different server clusters, yet taking place in the same fictional universe, could be a very powerful precedent.
On the other hand, they could screw with one another's fun factor pretty hard.
The GDnet discussion was centered on a hypothetical fantasy MMO set, where some players enjoyed a 4x game where they managed small estates, growing, harvesting or quarrying natural resources with NPC goons, building structures and managing assets. Conflicts between these feudal estates would be done by hiring regular and/or mercenary troops, paying their wages and issuing objectives to them.
Then, in a totally different game, these paychecks and directives would be received by RTS/FPS/TBS players, who would use the assets they were allocated to attempt to fulfill their orders in a PvP universe.
If planetary actions were handled this way in EvE, so you'd claim the planet from space, then manage it in a totally different client from the ground, I think it would be a powerful addition to the EvE galaxy.

Yeah, i'd like to see a Homeworld modification (or even dedicated variant of it) with full customizable ships as it's no (or at least partly changable modules). Or a kind of Nexus: Jupiter Incident, just with Eve ships, backstory and so on.
Also i'd like to see a game like Knights Of The Old Republic, with all that cool backstory. Perhaps an unbloody adventure, too, where a story inside the Eve universe takes place (or with little action - think of Blade Runner).
Another great step would be a TV series, movie, cartoon or whatever - the Eve franchise is such a great base for that stuff if you ask me. _____________________________ - be excellent to each other -

There are some people who are developing a MOD for Homeworld 2 based on EvE.
Don't have time to find the link, perhaps later.

Im not so sure, there are so many ways you could go with the game i honestly think that if it got franchised out it would suck cause lets face it franchised games never do justice to the original.
Though i love the idea of being able to board an amarr carrier and force the pod pilot to fly the minmatar to Amarr and free the slaves whilst punishing a few of those hoodie wearing dorks.

It would be great, The races and history is in place as is the models etc...
Would it be squad based or individual unit ?
(DOW is squad based, C&C is individual unit)
Personally I'd like to see it squad based, with like 3 man squads of tempests etc....

Wuld be fun with fitting :)
Hours of playing with fittings before average battle. And quite complex exconomy of "now let everyone go ratting" :)

I'd play that... four factions for a starter, rogue drones as NPCs, and if it sells well then make an expansion with the outlaw factions. Customize your units with different fittings! With pod pilots as hero-commanders!
But then again, I'd also play a FPS. Serpentis is putting their stolen Titan to good use: get in, reach the pod pilot room, and steal it back. Or at least blow it up before they activate the doomsday weapon! You've got guns, portable railguns, lasers, rocket launchers, and even small drones that fly around you and shoot at people. Enemies include Serpentis guards, soldiers of an opposing Empire, drones of all sorts, and moving around is harder than you'd think, 'cause the pod pilot controls the ship and doesn't really want to meet you.
Or what about a space shooter? Choose a race and then fly your trusty frigate through complex after complex; get powerups and ISK, buy more powerups and the next racial frigate. With special missions to unlock T2 ships and gear. Complete the game with all four races to unlock the Jove!
Or, mmm, a plot-driven, single-player RPG. What happened to the Sleepers? Who are the Enhiduanni? What are the Amarr planning to do after the antidote to Vitoc becomes available? What is the next big secret project of the Caldari Navy, and who is the spy out to steal it?
Argh. The idea that nothing of this will probably ever be made kills me.

That'd be cool. But sadly, very few people would buy it, sure 100,000 copies of the game sell - But 100,000 isn't much.
EvE has far too few subscribers compared too other MMORPGs. :(

Well, I know there's a homeworld 2 mod coming out that's using models with permission from CCP (which REALLY makes me want to get that game), but I don't see why it has to stop there. Find a bunch of fellow programmers, get together and build a game idea, and let Kieron know about it in depth, and you might get lucky.
We might be small for an MMO, but its because of that that ideas like these might work. I could never see something like WoW or SWG doing something like that for their member base.

Well if U played Battlefield 2142 in Titan mode..then U get the idea..yet the BF-Titan is a small vessel the gameplay is right there! You're ducking in those corridors, your fighting your way to the core of the ship to eventually blowing it up. Now, make an EVE based game with this gameoption and it would make me wet myself..but there are always ppl saying.."Hey..play another game..we like to fly in eggs..we need cargoexpanders..not new gameplay..we like it as it is!"
As for sci-fi games..I'm pretty sure that Blizzard is cooking something up taking place in the Starcraft universe, and they prolly have been for a long time (and I don't mean Ghost). When they release a new title it's gonna blow the world up..cuz they never release anything that isn't groundbreaking. Thing is they must have assassins standing behind every employee, cuz I have a friend working for 'em..and he just smiles when asked about the new project..should I blackmail him to get the answers?? *s*

While this may be off track, I think it would be cool to add something like battletech/mechwarrior to eve, allowing the mech to do ground combat on the planets in the eve. just a thought..
