Scamming will continue as long as people allow themselves to be scammed (so long as it's within the game mechanics). It does not taint my view of the game because I have never allowed myself to be scammed.

Unfortunately the scamming is in an area (corp stocks and investment) that has no real regulation where it is sorely needed. If people wised up there would be no stock exchange and no ipo's and little opportunity for small enterprises to grow. Without some monitoring I see a step backward for game development. To move forward I think CCP should include a way to retaliate scamming in all fairness.
Is Eve a land without law? if so to a greater degree thieves rule the game.

No, it makes me smile, and Darwin's probably dancing in his grave, wishing he could play EVE.

the thing about it is is thats it getting to the point where the stock excahnge will collapse and we will have nothing but people in noob corps because who wants their stuff stolen all the time?
everyone is saying that people should smarten up or not trust anyone but that just regulates the playerbase to playing solo if we were to follow that. then whats the point of an mmo? run around and do your own thing just because every person out there is going to scam you? wheres the fun in that?

I think Shares and scamming in general need to be seperated. I fully agree that if we want to see an Eve stock exchange really take off there needs to be some regulation in the same way trade is regulated via the SCC. If you want to trade under the table to avoid tax for instance you do it at your own risk and that is a freedom I like to have in Eve.
ISS have done a great job with their IPO but without either regulation or retaliation (due to disposable alts and no ISK trail) scams are plentiful and therefore hamper others trying to do the same. I think scamming has a place in Eve but since the whole IPO / shares thing is entirely a black market there is a risk that there will be so many scams that people will stop trading shares altogether. No more share market and no more market scams.
Most of the problems in Eve stem from meta gaming (back to disposable alts) and by it's very nature there is little players an do about that from in game unless the developers code for it.

Scamming and griefing certainly taint my view of the game. Unlike real life there's little to no consequence to this "criminal" activity and thus it's been allowed to run rampant. Unless the dev's choose to stamp down on people who use decidely anti-social behaviour, "normal" players just have to hope it's not them that gets screwed over.
It's almost like Eve is a huge social experiement by the dev's to see what society would be like without consequences. They must be a fortune in untapped research grants waiting them if they ever decide to license the data for study. ************************************************
