I've been thinking about how the different (turret) weapons could work in "reality". In the game, they all hit instantly, although in reality a gun shell still takes time to travel to its target. Then I realized that lasers do not have this problem. In fact, if a laser CAN track its target, it should always hit, because nothing is fast enough to escape light :)
So, my simple suggestion would be to either vastly reduce or totally remove the signature resolution limit for lasers. The only limit for lasers should be their tracking speed: if the turret can track a target, it WILL hit it.
It would also give lasers a unique ability, like minmatar guns which need no cap to fire.

dude, no offense but whats the point in this thread? its never gunna happen cause it would knack st00f up... pend for something that doesnt involve making it 'better' than the rest

Uh uh, bad idea.
In other words battleships will barbeque everything at 60km+ instapopping even cruisers. You just can't build a transversal up at that range and you'd be dead before you closed within tracking range or managed to warp away. Only downside of the laser would be that MWDing towards it would be a viable option but that still wouldn't matter.

hrmm.. i dont think that will solve any problems though... i think they just need to tweak the damage on lasers (i.e. increase it :))

thats one VERY stationary and unlucky kestral.. then again caldari ships do have HUGE sig radius

I'm just following the threads of the Amarr "problems" and thought lowering sig resolution penalty might be a possible solution. Tbh I'm not sure to what degree missed hits (because of sig resolution) account for lowered DPS. If its a sizable amount, perhaps this might be a better solution than (directly) increasing laser damage or adding crystals with different damage types.
And to a poster above, you're probably right, totally removing sig resolution penalty might be too much. Its just food for thought, don't forget :)

Lowering signature resolution on lasers might be good solution. Especially since the primary foe, Minmatar, uses ships which have 'below standard' signature radius.
Just as the Minmatar adapted their projectile weapons to not use cap anymore (to counter the evil Amarrian Nos ships), the Amarr could adapt to the low sig of most Minmatar ships.
