Is there a 'correct' dread to train for?
A 'correct' carrier to train for?
Or any dreads/carriers that just out-and-out suck? _____ Lifewire is a big, ugly, mean... carebear. |

All of them are pretty good at what they do. It comes down to a matter of personnal taste.

gall carrier does awesome dmg. other 3 tank better. ppl say the minnie carrier sucks but not certain why.
gall dread is the best for fighting fleets as well as pos's, phoenix is also ok for this. rev and nag are kinda crappy for that.
as said before they are all good but i think the gall are slightly superior overall

Mainly because of the ship bonuses. caldari and amarr gets a tanking bonus gallente gets a damage bonus to its fighters minmatar gets a bonus to...are you sitting down?..5% reduction in Shield and Armor transfer duration per level
Uber, huh? For capital remotes this means something like 2 seconds when you have LEVEL 5 minnie carrier, and to start with the minnie ones barely has got cap to run them with anyway.
These bonuses apply to both sizes of carriers, so motherships aswell. ___________________________ Brutors Rule! My Eve-vids; Click. |

The Amarr and Caldari Carriers tank a lot better than the Thanatos. While the Thanatos does 25% more damage than either of those two, the Archon or Chimera tank more than 25% better than the Thanatos. They've simply got better slot layouts for tanking in case of the Archon and in case of the Chimera shield tanks are slightly better (if less sustainable due to lack shield compatible capacitor modules)
The Nidhoggur (Minmatar) Carrier is worse than any of the others since it only has a duration bonus (shorter duration) on capital remote repairers and shield boosters. While this might seem good, if a bit weak, in comparison it's actually worse than that! The Nidhoggur couldn't sustain a reasonable amount of remote repairers (2 or more) even BEFORE the bonus is aplied!
The Moros (Gallente) does nicely against just about anything. If it weren't for one... oversight... however, it'd be very well balanced agaisnt the others. Quite a few patches ago, drones were said not to be able to target starbase towers. This is quite false, and drones have always been able to target starbase towers - unfourtunatly. Since we've got Sentry Drones, this means that the Moros can add almost 1000 dps to it's siege attacks (this is a dps increase not counting damage mods of about 20% when in siege mode, if memory serves). Had this not been the case, the Moros'd been the dread with the lowest damage on towers.
The Phoenix and the Naglfar both have one thing in common: they can both modulate their damage for optimal effect on a force field. The Naglfar does this slightly better than the Phoenix (since it has rate of fire bonuses while the Phoenix has a kinetic torpedo damage bonus), but then again the Naglfar also has split weapon system which makes it much harder to aply damage mods. Honestly speaking, and this hurts a bit, the Phoenix and Naglfar are really good Dreadnoughts.
The Revelation is a bit of a go-between. In either case, the Revelation is the one that can sustain a tank with most nosferatus sucking it in case you get jumped. Also, it's the cheapest to run with least logistical nightmare - you don't have to worry about ammo!
So. "Correct" ships.
Carrier: Thanatos if you want PvP, Archon or Chimera if you want PvE (yes, people do PvE a lot in these things - incidentally, Amarr and Caldari have low-sec COSMOS constallations where Carriers can be used...)
Dreadnought: The prettiest. Or the meanest looking. In either case it's up to personal preferences.
Personally I went for Gallente with my alt because when I'm roleplaying concious with her, she has an avertion to everything non-Gallente. She's my pure breed character. Dark skies torn apart Heavens open before me I, the light of death |

The d2 guy doesnt know what he's talking about.
BoB has at minimum 2 CALDARI ones from winning the alliance tournement twice. ASCN has admitted to having one plus others "in the oven" as well, sounded like a caldari.
So if there are 2 gallente ones you know of that means a minimum of 5-6 motherships known in the game.

well that teaches me for taking a 4 month absense... and the 2 arent both d2... one d2 from trust, and 1 establishment from blue
i wasnt blowing trying to blow the d2 horn, i wouldve tried to be more obnoxious if i was going to do that
