If there would ever be a huge Stateside gathering where would be the best place for it. I know that america is just huge and can take quite abit of traveling no matter where you are from but if there would be some sort of massive organized event where would be the best place to have it?
Somewhere in the middle like Kansas City? or more like New York? Seattle? Chicago? Dallas? Las Vegas? even Toronto

nerf posted with my main although I dont think it was rocket science to figure out. I think I would op for Kansas City or Denver, simply because I grew up in philly and never made it out west. Looking at the map it seems abit halfway I mean as long as those scary stories about "hicks" arent true. I mean not that I know what middle stateside people are called.

Vegas, for a few reasons.
1.) It's an interesting place that has plenty to do when you're not hanging out with your fellow EVE geeks. Finding a place to organize a convention of any time in Vegas is easy.
2.) It's a big international destination / domestic hub.
3.) Due to one and two, you can usually get pretty good deals on air fare. Also, hotel rooms are dirt cheap in Vegas compared to other places since they expect you to blow all your money on women, booze and drugs.
Vegas, baby!

Edited by: Buggs on 29/08/2006 12:20:21 Must agree with Vegas. Cheap direct flights from most cities in US / Canada. Tons of hotels for any budget. Easy to get around if near the strip.
Missed the last Vegas meet, will not miss the next, which ever city!

Been a few yrs since last visit to Vegas. But when you arrive at airport, baggage pick up area has large wall with direct phone to tons of hotels for free shuttle sevice. If the meet is near the "main strip", its very easy to get around by walking. Ive been there about 4 or 5 times, and cannot remember ever using a cab. Plus the walk is interresting with all the curb side shows.

Feh, and I was going to suggest Orlando because it's in that little slice of paradise called Florida. Just ignore the tropical storm headed my way for the moment.

Screw Disney. Universal Studios > Disney.
Come to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios and I'll get you a discount on your ticket due to being an annual pass holder.

Vegas has like 320 days of sunshine a year so bad weather isn't much of a problem.
As for transportation, so long as you hold the event somewhere on or near the Strip, yes, it's possible to walk pretty much anywhere if you give yourself some time. -

Yea, I could get to Vegas. I've only been there once. Besides I have some family in southern California I could visit. I build the fastest production car built in America. |

In Vegas you can walk on the strip. They have a trolly like bus that makes a loop past all the strip hotels and out to the Flamingo where The Star Trek Experiance is. They have a monorail that conects some of the strip hotels and they have buses that run between the strip and the downtown/freemont street area

We will be doing another evegathering in vegas in MAY in 2007. We moved it up about a month and a half so college students finals would be well over in the USA and the UK.
In the past two weeks, I have recieved MANY emails from corps asking about our event...

Atlanta = good price for EU, plenty to see, Mid budget, might get shot
Wash. D.C. = history, good transport, could be expensive (to very expensive) depending on location, might get shot
Orlando = prob. able to get package deals, alot to see, guessing good deals from EU, family friendly
Thinking your best turnout would be Orlando if have to chose from those 3
