I was already wondering why noone mentioned that...
There are only three real reasons to pod-kill someone:
1. Revenge 2. Griefing 3. Ransoming
No.2 is the reason for 99% of all pod-kills. Revenge is the only noble reason to pod-kill someone, however, very, very rarely executed. Ransoming is to tedious for PKs, and something only professional pirats are doing.

Gotta disagree with you there chief, it makes sense to pod the enemy when fighting so that they cant just hop bak into another ship and come back to the fight. Unless they have there clone set to where your fighting and there is a station there, they will have to travel to get back into it. To not pod them would be like giving them free reinforcements while your own forces take losses, silly no?

rofl, someones quite bitter. The game mechanics allow podding so if u think its greifing i think you are playing the wrong game.

Someone mentioned that earlier already, and you're both right. Pod-killing in war, or when defending your 0.0 pocket or attacking the pocket of someone, is totally legit and should have been added to that list.

Revenge is noble? What are you smoking?
Revenge is griefing. You are just trying to cause a player grief, because they made you said. You are griefing them.
So this is socially acceptable, even noble, griefing?

Yes, in the context of this game, I regard pod-killing someone because he has destroyed something I possessed or scammed me as the only noble reason to do that. Besides the lately additions to that list. Just compare that with dueling a few centuries ago, which was no only regarded noble, but demanded by nobility. Yes, I know, I'm old fashioned...

It can actually be useful in wars, it briefly puts the pilot out of comission, even with a jump clone or a close clone to go to, it can take a pilot out for 10 minutes or more while letting their pod go can result in a new threat in just a minute or two.

Ok I can see two "game play" reasons to pod kill someone: 1. in a war to put them out of the current battle as long as possible. 2. vs a pirate in order to collect the bounty
Are there any other "game play" reasons to pod kill someone? What I mean by that is there an advantagous to YOU reason to kill the pod after you have killed their ship? The only two I can think of are variations on the "in war" one mentioned above: 1. make it take longer for them to come back and attack you. 2. scare them away from "your" system.
Both of these are interactions between the players and NOT the game system itself. The ONLY "game system" reason to kill a pod that I know of is to collect the bounty on a player that has one. Is there another?
Thanks

It's just like Mortal Kombat...
Sure, you could finish your opponent with a kick, but that's lame.
It's much more satisfying to decapitate them/rip their heart out/light them on fire/slice them in two.

Um... depending on how old a character you are, youd have to spend 15 mil or so on a new clone, plus the cost of any implants you had in.
And maybe you forgot to move your clone out of the butt end of curse space, so you find yourself stuck there with no ship in hostile territory and have make your way back in a shuttle.
How do you move your clone?
Walking or flying is the preferred method *ba dum pssssssh*
Visit a medical facility somewhere else, click move clone.

Isn't pod a part of your opponent? I think the question should be "What is the effect of not podding anyway?" or "What are the reasons not to pod?".
Ransoming, previous agreement not to pod, or just being merciful to your foe if you have respect for the way he/she fought would be the reasons not to pod. Otherwise letting pod go is not finishing your job.

Medical clones, while in station, open the medical tab and select where you want to move your clone to and pay the transfer fee.
For jump clones, you have to move them manually.

Oh gee. "I do not want them chatting in local about pirates in this system, so I put up a galactic beacon saying that there are pirates in this system".
