Does anyone know if there are any formulas available to work out the speed at which drones will mwd to a target?
I'm trying to work out what level of drone navigation, and how many (if any) drone speed modules I would need for Warrior IIs (the fastest drones, at 5050 m/s according to the Item Database) to catch a crow orbitting at 19km.
I normally fly an ishkur, And I would have assumed that at 5040m/s plus drone navigation level, my Warrior II's should be able to catch a mwding crow, but they just fly around like little noobs not hitting the crow.
If a crow is orbitting me at 19km, with a disrupter running, my Warrior II's will not catch it, and I tihn they should, as they should be travelling faster, and have more agility than the crow.

There's a long standing bug in drone behaviour which means that once they reach their target and shift into orbit speed, they won't return to MWD speed until told to engage another target. A smart 'ceptor pilot will slow down to put them into orbit and then just MWD away.
That said, I haven't had too many problems with Warriors even at their orbit speed. Valkyries (which should theoretically catch the slower interceptors) give me the most problems.

So any tips for getting them to bbq the noob standard launcher crows? Tell em to attack, then return, then attack? Will that work?

Honestly? I haven't tried it. It sounds like it should put them back into MWD speed, but whether the delay is manageable I'm not sure.
I'd rather see the bug fixed, myself.

That's because he didn't slow down first. If you leave the Warrior's trailing you they have perfect tracking and move fast enough to catch you.

Edited by: Guillame Herschel on 29/08/2006 20:17:40 I wonder if these little guys might do a good job snagging the 19km Crow? They only need to get with in 5000 meters.

Yup, neut drones are awesome for messing with inteceptors. Of course you won't damage them but it's usually enough to disable their MWD and tackling gear. I'm always torn between carrying those or a set of Warriors for defense.
(and yes that's just a plain Prophecy in my sig, my favourite combat ship - I'm months of training away from the awesome T2 variants but I'm on my way )
