A few new mining modules for our industrialists to play with:
-Ice mining laser. Basically just a frigate-sized mining laser that can be fitted to ships like a venture or prospect, and can mine ice at a slower rate than the current ice miner. Advantage would be opening up ice belts to more nimble mining ships in potentially hostile space, as well as opening the door for more industrialists to harvest ice in general. Would come with a 'compact' and t2 variant, as well as a 'Nanook' storyline miner.
-Heavy gas harvester. A strip-miner equivalent gas mining module that can be fit to barges and exhumers; return scales up proportionately to strip-miner size. It must make hoover-vac sounds.
-Gas mining drones. Does as advertised, but very inniaficiently, even compared to t1 gas harvesters. Gives ships without the harvesters the opportunity to mine gas, which would be good in a solid drone ship with a miasmos to store it in. They would be medium-sized drones.
-Mining laser range increase mods & rigs. Exact numbers can be discussed, but I was thinking lowslot mods that use 40 CPU and give a 15-20% range increase with stacking penalties. The range increase applies to strip miners and mining lasers, but not ice or gas harvesters.
-New heavy ice mining ship. Stats can be discussed, but ideally it would be something to replace the former Mackinaw as the premier ice-mining boat in the game. Would prefer a new ore model of roughly the same size of or larger than a hulk, and suitable bonuses for being able to mine ice in more dangerous space.

In response to Rivr about my tinfoiling about shattered ice, the idea came from the shattered whatsitsname in Thera on SiSi and the new frigate only wh-system.
In my line of thinking there were "shattered ice" blocks to mine in them and thus we would need equipment to do so.
This "shattered" ice would be 500m-¦ in size with half of what normal ice would normally renine into but mined with the Venture or a Prospect.
Now Catherine's idea has a lot of merit, and you know I support you!

By the list: Ice Mining Laser I have no problem with this actually. Make this usable with the Venture bonuses (may need the Venture bonus to be reworded), and I think this would be a nice item.
Heavy Gas Harvester I remember talking about one not too long ago. Ah, Here it is: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=5166045#post5166045 May want to look at the whole thread.
Gas Mining Drones YES. Kinda feel that these were overlooked.
Mining Range Mods Sure, why not.
Heavy Ice Mining Ship No to this. Mostly because we've gotten away from the 'premier' mining mentality. Now there are multiple viable choices of mining ships in general. Going back to 'the one ship everyone must have' would be a serious step backwards. Choices make the game, and fake choices ruin a game.
However, I would like to see a true mining capital ship. That would just be another choice since it would have many things that other mining ships could do better in the right circumstances.

It'd be sort of a hybrid between a mining barge and a battlecruiser in terms of tank and dps ability; very strong ship, but fairly pricy. |

Skiff. Battleship grade defenses. Mines as fast as a Mack; ice or ore. That's your low sec boat, though any miner needs an escort there. Unles they're in a disposable Venture |

Warp strength bonus and some dps bonus and some extra fitting slots could be nice but...skiff's a nice boat. does a lot of dps. Lost a HAC to a DD/skiff combo last year. Good ship. |

I'm hoping that with some of the changes coming, especially to officially banning ISBoxer, there will be more of a demand for local/small-scale mining since a lot of the multiboxing mining hordes will get the banhammer. Something nice that's midway between a hulk and an orca designed specifically for ice mining I think would go over very well in the community. |
