We do continue following development of other headsets but feel there simply isn't anything else out there worth supporting, at least yet.
You are shooting yourself in the foot, the face, and nether regions by binding the software to a piece of hardware. If you want this to be a total success, you cannot make it a requirement for people to pay some hundreds of dollars for a giant piece of headgear, to play your game. As much as we like it, we don't plan on buying it.
Just like with 3d tv, the concept is great until you find out you have to spend a few hundred dollars on a pair of ugly glasses to watch a 3d movie. It's nice in a theatre, but for everyday play for the masses... No.
You are setting Valkyrie up to fail by making it a requirement to spend hundreds of dollars on this hardware.
There is a reason people like the other alternatives, such as elite. I built a 10 dollar head tracker, used free community software to configure it, and I had an old joystick that works. It was a very small investment into a game which I had no idea if I would play (I fear my wife would look at me if I had a rift box strapped to my face).
I like Valkyrie, I like dust, I like eve. I play eve because I have a pc. I don't play dust because I don't own a PS4 (not worth the 300 to 400 dollar price tag). I won't play Valkyrie if I have to spend 300 to 400 dollars on a pair of glasses which (in my view) would only be used to play Valkyrie.
Now would I use them to play elite, yea maybe, but I'm not going to spend the money on technology, when there is both an option of creating the game without it, and also prescidence because there is a game that is about to release that does the same thing as Valkyrie, but does not require you to spend a few hundred dollars for a piece of custom equipment.
If it was an option and not a requirement, I'm all for it.
It's a requirement, then in my mind, you are throwing your development time away, taking a needless gamble on a whole new game (you can create the game to both use and not need a vr headset.), wasting my time and screwing up what was suppose to be a great addition to ccp's profolio.
