Heyyyy,
I have been going out on hunting sessions and all kinds of stuff like that where I literally go out...either camp something or just hop belts/systems looking for a target.
The only targets I come across that cause severe problems in all situations (mostly 0.1 - 0.4 but in 0.0 as well) are the sniper BS's with T2 guns. Mainly the tempests and megathrons. I don't enjoy "leaving" a fight but that's what happens when you're rigged for close combat.
For those of you who snipe - How often do you actually have trouble out there pvping? How many times does an actual challenge come up to you? I am really debating on what to specialize in, and with the next set of BS's coming out it really looks like I should go for T2 large projectiles and get myself and alpha-striking fiend.
The only time I've really sniped is with a T1 rigged tachyon armageddon. And the only time I managed to kill stuff is with close range people in the gang. But I figure if you have 2 or 3 T2 sniping BS's you shouldn't need a tackler with an alpha strike pwning all cruisers.
Well I'm not recapping my question...it's in the 3rd paragraph from the top. Here's another question though - Those of you who t2 snipe: Do you enjoy or prefer it more than T2 closeup fighting? ---

People who snipe arent looking for a fight they are looking to kill stuff as risk free as possible.

if you trust on your skills and your ship you can aproach snipers by raising the transversal high enough to dodge their shots until you get close.
not the first time i rushed 100-150km with a thorax to find the sniper had a wcs or to see he warp before get him, (yep even BS just run away)
also keep in mind most of sniper setups goes after dmg than armor setups, they just expect to not fight anything closer than 75km.

T2 guns have a longer base optimal range and you basically NEED the +100% ammo for good snipage.
The only snipers I encounter are solo lowsec gatecampers though.
