I have a main who is training as hard as he can in missiles but I want to see what my alt can do with gun so can anyone tell me what the best guns are and what skills help these

Hydrids (Blasters) - Have the highest DPS, very close range Hydrids (Rails) - Can Hit things from very far away
Lasers - I use them, but looking back on it,
Projectals (Arts) - High Alpha Strike (1600 damage tanked anyone?) Projectals (Autocannons - Highest RoF ---

You can't label "the best" gun..all have disadvantages and advantages.
The Tech II Blaster is vicious, because it deals so much damage, but tracking and range sucks. In comparison, a tech II autocannon has a good range (you'll hit most things between 0-20km) and a bit better tracking, but less ammunition and damage. Lasers I don't know a lot about, but they have very fast reload times (changing crystals), and the best tracking, but they take a lot of cap.

well thats depends on what ships your flying and the bonuses, but i would say projectile guns as you can change the ammo so be able to do all damage types, but thats just my idea..

Damage Per Second.
Some people want to see the biggest hits, smart people want to see the biggest damage per second (unless you're a sniper ofc).

If you're asking between guns/missiles I'll assume you're caldari. In which case it's between rails and missiles for the most part.
Rails do instant damage which is good, but they use a lot of cap which will hurt the tank of any ship you fly. They also have tracking problems, meaning you have to really know how to use them to use them well... otherwise they will suck.
Missiles take time to do their damage but will always hit eventually. You can use missiles on any enemy without worrying about the range or size too much, just fire and watch things blow up. Missiles are the newb weapon for this reason... but they are a VERY effective newb weapon so use em! Later on you can learn some rail skills if you think you're ready to try em out.

Hybrids: - use cap +- thermal/kinetic damage
blasters + most dps of any close range gun - low tracking (except on a few ships where tracking bonus's negate the bad tracking, i.e megathron) - low range/falloff
rails + good damage + good rof + overall good dps

projectiles: + no cap use
AC's + fastest rof + great falloff + low fitting requirements + as opimtal range means nothing, lots of damage types - v.poor optimal range - lowest dps of all guns - small ammo capacity to go with fastest rof (means reloading in fights is common and regular depending on target)
Artillery + highest alpha strike of all guns - lowest dps of all long range guns (hard hitting but very slow rate of fire) - Worst tracking of all guns

Lasers + ability to change range in seconds due to crystals - use lots of cap - restricted to em and thermal damage
Pulses + good dps + great range for close range guns (makes them excellent mid range fighters)
beams + good dps (tho lower than rails i believe?) + Good tracking

As you can tell i know most about projectiles as thats what i personally use, others way disagree with any of my points, so feel free to correct me and add/remove stuff

personally, I saw go Hybrid, as they are best at long and short range (still decent in mid range) with rails and blasters respectivily. Also, they are the main weapon for Gallente, and secondary weapon for Caldari, so it's east to crosstrain for both races ships.
