Yeah, but this is a civilian institution and not some deep pockets, super-top-secret, cold war-esque, military project by a large nation-state.
It also means *civilian* security is guarding this potential WMD.

Potential and actual losses tend to be different. In this case, influenza, no matter how contagious, is usually pretty easy to make a vaccine for. Unless it infected everyone on the planet within a month, actual losses would be much smaller, on the order of perhaps 0.1-0.2 kilohitlers.
Also, yes, humans are pretty vulnerable to viruses. We're also getting really good at figuring out ways to use HIV to make designer viruses. |

Except this one is airborne. Meaning all you have to do is litterally breath it in and you're ******. Meaning... just letting it out of the lab is a pretty ****** idea. |

And sudently this will get in hands of "terrorists" , who actualy base excatly in Syria. United States going to do "rescue world" military operation, while people instead going in anti-war protest will keep their fingers crossed. And in aftermath civilised countries will get even more security cameras spying us, with reason to "prevent terrorism". One Nation , One Race One Folk, One Faith! |

What was the name of that game/sim? I never could reliably infect Madagascar.

It was created during studies to determine how H1N1 could potentially mutate to something more transmittable and virulent and how quickly that mutation is likely to occur, then to deal with it, they do that all the time with most viruses they discover. |

There is already such a virus and it's called ignorance.
For example, while most of you and oohing and aahing at Tier 3 BCs and Skyrim:
1. The worlds biggest murder machine is getting ready to make it much easier to murder you. 2. They are coming up with a new conflict for you to possibly die in along with another one for those already there so that you are distracted from.. 3.The fact that your future is being looted by the big banks
I would really want to know who was in favor of this amendment.
