Aside from the points gained when training for individual skills like Industry or Spaceship command, how else does a character gain additional skill points?
I am wondering if points are added generall for things like in-game time, time spent in activities like mining, buying, selling, navigating around the Eve universe, etc.
Also, what suggestions are there for doing things to really ramp up on skill points. Thanks!

Only way to get skill points is to train them. Get your Learning and Advanced Learning skills up to train faster.

You only get SP by training. You can train while not logged in though. No powerlvling

Thanks to all.
I have focused on my learning skills first and foremost and have skill level 4 for Analytical Mind, Instant Recall, Iron Will, Learning and Spatial Awareness. I stopped at this point to work on some other skills to help me stay alive in the Eve universe--mining, ships, weapons and such. Evemon is a huge help too when planing things out.
Always be training (ABT) is my motto. I even log on from work, not to play, but to set my character training early levels with fast times. Higher levels/long time run overnight or for days until complete.
Right now I have 426,xxx skill points. Focusing mainly on mining these days. I need the isk.
Thanks everyone!

You have the right attitude. Now that you are at level 4 for the basic skills, you should train things that are fun. If you train only the learning skills, you'll probably get bored and frustrated and quit the game, like I almost did. ABT is gospel! Just don't get fired for logging in from work... -----

Yeah they originally had it so doing activities related to a skill would put additional skillpoints into that ontop of just training time alone. But then people exploited so they got rid of it.

Wish they would impliment something. Waiting 6 months to get my carrier skills is killin me hehe.
But at the same time, in regards to the OP, I did the same thing. Focused on learning 3, then hit some of the basics, like a cruiser (or in my base Battlecruiser), Retreiver and tons of leadership skills.
Now I am at the point where not training the advanced learning skills is killing me.
I just finished memory 5 this morning and working on spatial awareness 5 for the next 6 days. Joy joy.
It is important to get to a comfortable spot in all honesty. Then you can train all your learning skills to adv 3 or 4. If that is whatyou want to do.
Welcome to Eve!
Acerbus Vindictum may be able to use you.

If you have the isk you really should go with advanced memory to lvl 3-4 at this point before anything else. It will speed up your learning of spatial awareness quite a bit. Especially if you also spend the time to train intelligence to lvl 5 and advanced int to the same level as mem.
