O.K. apparantly when you ask a serious question if someone doesn't like what you are saying it gets locked... ANYWAYS without mentioning any names, would it be possible for the devs to have a tool that allows them to mark a post with the gold bar, or mark it without? This way if they post something thats no more than "omg I want cheese" they have the choice to not mark the thread so that players dont go scrolling through 10 pages of posts just to find a rather uninformative response that reall has nothing to do with anything. (personally I have no problems with this, I think its great that the developers post b.s. on the forums with the other community members, makes them seem more like people, rather than some higher power that holds its control over us. This is a valid question and concern, and I know I'm not the only one who has complained about the same thing, and I am rather unsure why the old one was locked.

well make it so they just have to click it off, so at least sometimes when they DO remember, we spend time? what i would REALLY like to see is the number of the page highlighted in gold or somesuch, that would make things even easier.

Isn't it kind of whiney to tell people to stop posting what you claim are whiney topics?

Yea, this has been getting annoying lately... There seems to be acouple "new devs" (or atleast I havn't seen them since about a week ago) who post useless comments in alot of threads making me read them all cause of the gold bar...

Please watch it, I don't want this one getting locked as well because of hurt feelings... if you are going to discuss anything just keep it strictly to the topic of whether or not they can implement something where they choose to add the gold bar, or not choose not to tag it etc... or if there are alternative means...

They're people too, they are allowed to post what they want, serious dev comments or not. If they don't have any freedom, they'll just become robots, and their jobs will suffer as such. If you don't like it, don't read their replies. You shouldn't be reading posts just because of gold bars anyway, read posts because of their content and such. Just because a dev comments on it, doesn't mean it's anymore or less serious. _________________________ Corp: www.ravenwarriors.com Cache Clearer |

We are people too, we have the right to post on the forums just like you, whether it's "important" or not is irrelevant, we could just not post on the forums at all. At least when we post silly little comments it shows that there is really a person on the other end, not just some scripted bot with standard replies.

no no this is why I brought this up, I love the fact the devs post NORMAL posts as well as informative posts... I just think you guys should have a tool that gives you the choice to mark or not mark a thread, so if you post something with information you can flag it, but if its just chatter, you can choose not to mark it...

we have that in the form of gold bars, unless im missing something, what im saying is the devs should have a choice to disable such a tool if they felt their post really didn't say anything important enough to require flagging (important being them talking about a game mechanic, or a change, or if it is one of the "forum moderator" devs, if they were posting a clarification of a rule, this would be important)

if the GOLD bar posters can't post informative, constructive post, and instead start to spam and troll off topic, then how do they expect the rest to follow the rules agains the same?
Rules are for all, not just the peon customers...
if CCP feels different, then let a GOLD bar say so.

its not about trolling though : / thats not what the point is... lots of times devs will just post opinions on topics, etc... what would make me happiest is a highlight of the forum page the post is on, because thats usually the biggest annoyance, trying to find a dev post in 15 pages worth of posts...

I agree you are people, but the customers have a RIGHT to have the business representatives behave in a proffesional manner when dealing with us, which is deminished when they troll or post unconstructive comments (spam).
For the longest time, that was how it was, but lately, things have taken a downward spiral.

ahhhhh, sorry I misunderstood. Not a bad idea at all.
gold bar post = important informative not gold = not worth reading
but couldn't they just post with one of the thousands of alts they must have?

The Dev need for cheese is of great concern to me. While I think that the OP idea has merit. I dont think it would work truely. Every post made by a dev, directly or indirectly ties into our eve experience. As is shown here;

getting to know the person behind the dev, gives us further insite into the people who shape the game we all have in common.
To go forward with your idea of having a distinction between "serious" and "non-serious" post of the Dev team, really begs the question, can we have the same feature for us the player?
BTW I tried to activate my gold bars just now, but apparently this post isnt serious enough to merit. ------- My sig seemed to disapper, let me try again... |

bwahaha I never even noticed the bars on the main forum page. With that said... They are no less devs when they are posting jibberish or posting something very important. Its not like there's that many dev posts anyways. I think your suggestion is a petty one. They can spend their time making EVE the EVE they want it to be.

This would be even better... I wouldn't care about the meaningless posts then because it would take up all but a few seconds of time to find... this would be much better anyways.
