Out of the interest surrounding Carolyne's Star, and the subsequent "green smudge", I decided to take a shuttle, and head to the region closest to Jove space My training has served me well, as I had to dodge hordes of Guristas and other capsuleers. What I've caught via camera drone is perhaps the best view of the anomaly ever taken so far. Take a gander at this:
https://app.box.com/s/un2sq8ay8uq5qd0ry93b
I'm now worried about the settlements on habitable planets in this region. If the nova was THAT bright, it surely must have affected ecosystems.
I would say more, but I am utterly shocked at how....HUGE the anomaly is. This I feel is the direct reason all the gates in Jove space stopped reporting, but of course we can't say for sure unless some Jove that is still alive over there drops a cyno for us, and that is not happening any time soon.
Just....Wow. |

big explosion is big. if there was any settlements in the vicinity of that nova, chances are they're cooked now. I'm actually feeling a bit worried about the possibility that Jove may be trapped in those systems. Shame we can't mount an exploritory/search and rescue mission into that region...

Many warm hello,
Can please use for word "star" in title instead of "anomoly", many please?
I keep for misread thread title. Not suitable young eyes for view lady anatomy in public thread IGS.

The Jove themselves. We cannot remotely set a clone at one of their stations and they would be unwise to let capsuliers do so. They would simply become the subject of exploitation.
Eventually, possibly, when their wormhole inhibiters break down, we'll be able to enter via W-Space. |

Long term? Couldn't a dedicated jump capable ship could make it to Jove space from the Vale of the Silent? A chain of them could make a "bridge?" |

Even without hyperspatial velocity optimisers, an interceptor or covert ops vessel with significant investment in capacitor upgrades can manage just about a light year every two hours, capacitor recharge breaks notwithstanding. I did the mathematics for this a while back, actually, when I was proposing a project to Arek'Jalaan.

It should have much better cap at a cost of minor warp speed reduction. |

Maybe.
One ship goes out as far as it can go. Drops a cyno. Next ship goes to ship # 1 and proceeds from there as far as it can go. Ship three bounces from ship 1 to 2 and so on.
Make the bridge say from JZV-F4 to N-FKXV. That looks to be the shortest distance.
Is this feasible?

I will have a Crow on a sub-warp approach vector within the next few hours. |

I made the voyage to the Drone Regions in my Dramiel, and brought along several members of my exploration and research team. We set in a course and burned at just under 6km/sec for approximately 14 hours. Several gangs of xXDeathXx members gave chase during this time and at several points very nearly intercepted us. I engaged them in conversation during our trip and found them to be quite polite given their intent to destroy my ship. We discussed galactic politics, music, and the potential implications of SLA116. Several of them were familiar with my corp and asked me to forward salutations to Rixx, our CEO. If all of my enemies displayed such class, I would find the combative side of my duties far more enjoyable.
Our mission sadly proved fruitless; while we were in an incredibly fast vessel, the distances involved are simply too great to realistically cover at sub-warp speeds. Perhaps someone with access to a tactical destroyer could yield better results. As it stands I was able to get decent imagery from my camera drones, but nothing particularly new or noteworthy. We will resume our investigation from an undisclosed location in Anoikis. |

You'll be able to travel AU in hours, but it's called 'light years' for a reason. No point trying to fly there at sub-warp speeds. Even warp speeds would still take some time, though if you could manage to initiate a straight warp without the required coordinates, then it's perhaps feasible. Good luck stopping, however.

Edit: Though I suppose you'd be limited by capacitor and would stop several times on the journey. |

Of course, logically I am and was aware of the scale in question here. This was essentially an excuse to get as up close as possible to an astronomical event that none of us may see again in our lifetimes. |
