Having just received this item as a holiday gift I was quite disappointed to note it wasn't functional at all.
Now obviously adding a "better" stripminer to the game could be a serious balance issue which is why I suggest the following.
Change the item into a Stripminer that has a better yield pr. cycle but make it so it ONLY works on the useless ores you are told to collect in Mining Missions and make it Equipable on all ORE ships (even the Venture) It would give Mining missions a boost without unbalancing actual Mining in the belts etc.
Let us have a functional Chibba Module, Please! |

If I was bitching about free stuff I would complain about the colour of the Outlaw jacket. What I did was suggest a change to an ingame item that would be more fun if it was usable. |

I'll give this a +1 and even suggest it works as a +5% over a T2 strip miner with T2 crystal but only on Veldspar.

Why I feel bad for ccp sometimes.
I recall last year the yule lad present of the cloak made some mad because it was wrecking their market sales.
They can't catch a break here. Give a real item....catch crap for it. Give a joke item...catch crap for it. |

As long as it is something in line with officer mods, I don't see much problem.

OT: I suppose, we could use some functionality for Director-level access keys and Reminders to pay sov bill. Accordingly to some people, it can fix EVE as well  |

I haven't actually seen the veldnaught, but I think I remember hearing it was a revelation...
Have the steip-miner on-ship model be the same size as a giga laser.... Maybe even have it as a capital sized module ^^ |

It should totally have been an Officer strip miner. Everyone getting it would ensure the price would not be in the billions (at least in the beginning), slightly more yield and purple on lossmails. This is a missed opportunity.

Poor CCP, I almost feel sorry for them for releasing useless junk that could actually have some meaningful joke use, in which CCP could have diverted some DEV time from the even more useless and money-grabbing, unimaginative NES rugs. Instead, it's just junk. I also, apart from my comment, don't see complaints here, just a mere suggestion to give players something useful. If that is "catch[ing] crap for it", we either have different standards for crap or some people are just oversensitive. |

Why not just make it a mining laser which looks like a strip miner and has strip miner sound and graphical effect, and mines at T2 mining laser rate when you use it on Veldspar, but T1 rate on everything else? Then it'll have a lot of flavor:
1.) works better on Veldspar
2.) allows you to "strip mine" in a Venture
3.) Chribba can fit some to his Veldnaught
and best of all, it won't be overpowered! Except it might reduce the value of T2 miners for a while if everyone gets one for free...
Maybe it could mine Veldspar at the rate of the meta 4 mining laser but cost the T2 CPU amount. Then it's still worth using for fun without stepping on too many toes.
Fit a warfare link to your tech 1 battlecruiser. Train Wing Commander. Get in the Squad Commander or Wing Commander position. Your fleets will be superior to everyone else's. (had this sig BEFORE Odyssey BC rebalance)
