The problem persists... was not fixed before Kali/Revelations and now I cannot play the game, I'm ashamed because in the day Revelations was deployed I was amazed with the new graphics, new exploration options, new skills, new mosules, new ships, w/e new that came with the extension and post a positive coment on the "Post Deployment" thread....
Jita is with 345 ppl in local and we are getting queues saying that the system reached his limit... WTH? 345 ppl? I've played in Jita with 712 ppl and only few traces of lag, that, of course, before Dragon...
I've deleted all my instas. I've reinstalled the full client. I've cleaned the machine from dust, CPU is working at 56 degrees Celcius, I've reinstalled DirectX 9c, it's all defragmented, all other games play at maximum resolution and I don't have 10% I have with EVE in the lowest resolution...
Haven't seen any coment on the patch to be deployed on Dec 5 about all these problems, only minor bugs being adressed among with the deleting of all instas to stations and stargates... well, if Valar said BM take 14% of the database, I really don't believe an improvement in 20% in the database space will turn the game playable, it will not.
I've quited my 2 accounts just 1 month ago, when some "balancing" changes to missions nerfed even more the missions in the game and I was tired of lag, memory leak, DC, freezes, etc. I've restarted some weeks later because I'm addicted by this game, I love it, but the changes and the new things being added without fixing the main problem (PERFORMANCE) will not help to keep my interest in the game cuz I don't want to pay for something that only stress me, and that is how EVE is working for me with all these incredible queues to jump into systems that are almost empty, don't come to talk about it's a node problem, I'm talking about Jita, with 345 ppl and the system/code can't handle it.
I have no hope of any Dev coment on this thread or in my post, so, I'm only writing to tell all you my feelings about the game I love so much and, as Dark Motoko stated 3 months ago, IT'S BECOMING UNPLAYABLE!
Be your journeys long and prosperous. Treat the others as you like to be treated. Rude and fool are enemies. |

Why is it that at these events we see the Devs at, people never seem to be complaining about the lag, when they have the chance?
It seems they are all too busy kissing CCP's butt.
How on earth could you actually play the game, and then have anything positive to say about this company?
How much time went into writing the code, deploying this patch etc?????
CCP did all of this, yet the very basic functions of this game....simply do not work.
Who in the company made the decision to add new content, when the old content was broken and needed fixing?
I am quite certain I speak for everyone in this game when I say, the little extra content added in Revalations, would have GLADLY been sacrifised, in order for us to actually be able to play the game, headache and hassle free.
We need to get some type of orginized response to CCP, such as a mass subscription cancelation, unless they start putting ALL their resources on fixing the non-playability of the game.

Originally by: Submunch My fps totally and utterly sucks now. I blame it on the 'seamless map' or whatever they call it. Why the hell are they showing all the solar systems in the background now? Why make our CPUs process all these dots in the background? Is it just to have a cool effect when you hit the star map that it zooms out 'seamlessly'? What a wasted of CPU. How the heck do I turn off showing all the solar systems in the background? This should improve my fps tremendously I would think.
Submunch
I agree, Seamless map is neat to look at, but needs an "on/off" toggle in the options, TBH the old map was nicer and faster. I never had problems playing the game befor. now it seems that the game takes up more processing power than i can put out. temperatures rise to critical limits in a matter of minutes and force shutdowns at worst of times. the game needs to really utilize your GPU rather than your CPU. Alot of people are having overheating problems due to tremendous CPU usage. terrible lag, salvaging is useless as now people dont blow up their wrecks... warp to zero is useless. BMs were better.. scanner is broken or otherwise stinks.. old scanner with radar was tons better and much much faster in terms of scanning ability... My FPS is ok but I just cant play the game now due to overheating. I mean, Doom 3 running the "Ultra" quility setting doesnt put any stress on my PC at all. Probably because all the pretty "oohs and ahhhs" are done via your graphics card, while everything else is done by cpu. would be nice to have that balance in EVE too. Eve is really just an over-exagerated IRC/Chat room client with a shader attached. ever notice your fps/lag decreases/increases the more windows you have open? why does it take so many resources to run? why is it games like HL2, Doom3, Fear, CoD2, GTR1/2, WoW, DDO, EQ2, the new NFS Series dont Tax my system, yet Eve is unplayable?

Will I am normally not a complainer but yes it is getting unplayable. It seemes they pushed out the update too quick to me and we are all suffering for it. normally my hat goes off to the devs the do a great job but this patch is a total falure in my opinion. Yes the new features are great but when you can't actually play the game because it is all messed up rubs me the wrong way. I am not a big fan of alot of the changes in this patch the contract system is all fubared not really usable yet. The map causes alot of client freezes. Warp core nerf I can understand but that also effects PVE and with the amount of disconnects of late my wallet is hurting.
I have a character based in aramachi I find the system ok but trying to get out of it takes 20 or more minutes You are number 56 in que for jump apears alot. My other char in a relatively deserted system has module hangs at random. I have been unable to run 2 accounts in space since the new patch. If I leave one in station I am fine. Tonight when I finaly figured things would be patched enough to run some missions my graphics and frame rate went to crap I lost my mouse and was unable to target or warp due to this. 2 of my character who had a large number of bookmarks take 20-30 minitutes to log in with no known fix as of yet. I love the game but this is getting extremely frustrating.

Well kids :) they only way Dev will take notice is to call it a day EVE, I'm all inagreement with the OP and such, this is my first time playing/paying a game like this and I know for a fact that alot of new comers feel the same way.
In my 18 years of gaming i've still yet to come to play the perfect game with no Issues.. I did not read the whole 25 pages, but I would hope if eve is here for the long term that they take these posts seriously and at the very aleast make an effort to resolve them, otherwise Eves future is a very short one.... |

All I can say is that what is going on in Jita and the ridiculous queues is totally unacceptable.
And there has got to be a better way of dealing with Salvage - not being able to pop those things without having a tractor and multiple salvage equipped while running a mission is really causing a big problem and now I'm just leaving all the small ship wrecks out there cuz the whole deal is a waste of time.
Maybe the market will react somehow and make the salvage and rigs worth the extreme amount of trouble they have caused. On the other hand though, I hate to see rigs cost in the tens or hundreds of millions because of it.
I still love the game, but I'm extremely disappointed.

Been playing eve for more then a year and a half, and this is becoming unplayable.
All those fixes, improvements, optimizations never did any good..or at least not for us, players.
I have to wait for 2-3 minutes in totally deserted systems to jump in, undocking takes ages.
fleet battles in 0.0 are crap: ok, node doesnt die, but u have to wait 40secs with frozen image when u warp into battle..and there wasnt 400peeps in same grid, there was less then 100 ships. like wtf? where are promised changes and optimizations? we dont see them!
not to mention totally craped seamless map, which is ****, make option to have old scanner back..
wtf with wrecks? even doing mission now sucks. because of extra lag in 0.0 i moved to empire to do some missions, but with this 100+ wrecks lying around when i finish, it is not good. Make them disposable, but not with shooting them (my tractoring hauler dooesnt have guns!) or targetable by drones (is this a bug maybe?). at elast allow us to rename them..
rigs are useless too, they will be too expensive, taking so many components to build them..lees build reqs. or give us more components while salvaging..
overview is even more bugged then before, i have to close and open it everytime i warp in..
bah, revert patch..tier3 added ships are too expensive, modules are ****, new fleet organization is not so handy, u need 1 hour just to organize stuff.. |

they need to take care of this, obviously with 25 pages of replies this isn't a small problem. I've been trying to log in my char for 20 minutes now, I had to close eve because I was stuck in jump for 10 minutes now my ship is sitting somewhere in space and my mission timer is slowly ticking down. great for CCP that they have 33000 players online right now. take some of that money at $14.95 per player and buy some more servers to fix this ongoing issue. maybe when enough people start leaving they'll figure out adding content isn't enough when people can't log in to use it.

Aye, agreed. Luckily I am still on a trial account (3 days left). The Eve experience has been great, got into a good corp and all, but lately I can't even do anything. It takes about 5-10 seconds to even activate my modules (I already lost my drones and almost my ship, since I couldn't: target, shoot, move, get my drones back into my bay, and took forever to warp out).
Was very set on subscribing, but now I am having second thoughts, if this is what continued game experience is going to be like I am not going to spend money on something like this.

Edited by: Talion Shar on 03/12/2006 22:52:17 well instead of the "testing out the game i.e relevation out on the server", now you know why there is a testing phase first on Singularity.
next time dont complain of any "mississues" and test out on Singularity to avoid that case on TQ, tbh
and no im not getting the serous prob that its going unplayable, just unplayable with sound turned on... only question for dev: When we are able to play this game with sound turn on again? ((and nah i dont get $400 again to buy the newest (Creative) Soundcard, tbh it would still not work))

The number of people this is affecting is growing by the day, this now 25 page topic reflects that. Whether it be a code issue, memory leak, server problem, some acknowledgement for the Devs wouldn't go amiss. At least let us know there IS a problem, then we know your on to it at least.
And as for the heat, i thought it was just me! Last night my ú1200 self built rig locked up for the first time since being built (5 months or so). I reach round the back to turn the PSU off and nearly burn myself! Seems Eve has become a bit more of a resource ***** that it used to be...

It's December 3rd. The Revelations upgrade has been deployed now for almost two weeks. I've had an opportunity to actually sit down and play a bit, and also to reflect on the problem regarding lag and new features.
I am playing on a MacBook Pro dual processor rig with a gig of RAM. EVE is eating between 20% and 90% of my CPU but I've got decent frame rate (55 FPS) for normal usage. The game lags between 5 seconds and a minute when I try to load up market windows, contracts, etc.
The new features are great and I'm glad to have them. Corporation management will now be a little easier. Before it was nigh impossible, because of trade and item transfer barriers. I will comment more about features in an appropriate thread.
I believe that the new features were worth the wait and although I am still very sore that lag continues to plague the game, I'm more willing this week than I was two weeks ago to wait while they torque up the engine.
Part of my willingness to wait is the fact that I'm signed up for another seven months of play. So, I bought in and I'm going to stick it out. I've been enjoying some time away from the game while working on long, boring skill trees on my three characters and having fun with Computer Gaming World's 2006 Game of the Year. This has allowed me to have some raw fun and makes it a lot easier to be patient with CCP. My CEO alt has 4.2M SP in trade, which makes it easy to play for an hour a day and make ISK.
Congrats, CCP on the upgrade. Now please deliver on performance. You're our only hope. To all the righteously indignant players out there, keep the feedback rolling in. This thread does help.

I've been back less then 24 hours. I took a break shortly after RMR went live. Server performance is horrible. Horrible. horrible. HOROR-ABLE. I have made multiple attempts to log in, and when I do, I'm stuck.
If I were a new player and didn't know much about the game I wouldn't bother looking back. I would consider it $20 down the tubes and it would be saying adios amigos.
At this point I rember why I took a break. It wasn't because I didn't like the game. It was because it was so difficult to log in and actually play the game.
Just horrible.

Went ratting in Amarr territory far from any major hubs yesterday. Most of the systems had only 2-3 players in them, although the total server pop was above 32k (new record?). Anyway: I try to jump into the next system and get a queue in which I'm at pos #1 and doesn't change for ten minutes.
When my ship finally warps my view stays stucked onto the gate for another couple of minutes. Trying to relog does nothing more than giving me a 15min wait "Entering game as..." with my ship and char taking roughly 2mins to react to any of my actions.

The Motsu/Saila area is completely unbearable. I've lost 2 Ravens in 2 days due to the amount of lag in the area.... 1 to a drone mission! 2 weeks straight, barely a scratch.... now, I worry whether or not I have enough funds to keep flying....

Current news:
"A new peak concurrent user record was set Sunday, Dec 3rd when 32,955 users were logged into EVE Online: Revelations. This would not be that significant if not for the outstanding performance the Tranquility server demonstrated under this enormous load. According to preliminary log analysis the server cluster was at 47% capacity - A clear indication that the new Revelation expansion along with the accompanying hardware upgrades has brought the cluster to a new level."
Sure thing...

A few things to say here really.
Has server performance got better yes albeit very slightly. Is the game more playable as a result really I have to say no. I do recognise that CCP is doing everything it can here.
From a player standpoint I lost my ship last night due to lag and the inability to warp out when required, but hey **** happens only a ship.
What I am seeing though is a couple things
Jump Queues - they scare the **** out of me. No longer can you assume to be able to jump at a gate when you get to it. This has implication for solo travellers in 0.0 as well as severly hampering fleet movements. Before anyone hits the travel in a group thing yes solo travel is required from time to time. These do need to be sorted it would be nice to understand what these are all about, why they where implemented, and why they do not appear to be acting consistently. jump queues with 2-3 peeps in sys, jump queues with no one in sys, jump queues with 300+ in sys.
High population systems - DO NOT GO TO JITA YOU MAY NEVER GET IN, IF YOU DO YOU MAY NEVER GET OUT on a more serious not I would like to know what CCP is doing to help ease this specific issue. In AZN there was 300 BOB/ASCN pilots and it became almost unplayable for both sides. A shame considering the number of tech 1 friggies we where chaining.
Big blobs can be seen on the map whether it is carebear central Jita, Bob beating up on hobbits, or coalition vs ra/goons and friends or any other major fleet action going on.
As a player I would like to at least see a message comeout along the lines of "yep big lag issues on the go in xyz system. working on it atm". I think if there was a more open recongnition at the time the lag is happening it would somewhat appease the masses.
CCP congrats on your new record it is a big milestone. I know you are doing everything you can but communication does need some improvement. Outwardly to the world celebrating your milestone, yeah you should. But there should also be a statement to the players recognising the playability impact I think that is why some of the people have posted with such hostility regarding your milestone announcement.
CCP Revelations is awsome, to those who do not like the changes - adapt
We know it will take a while to settle things down as things do with new patches. Communication does help though, you communicate OK just communicate more often daily if need be.
You my continued support, and my subscription fees

I don't see mention of the mass disconnects shortly after reaching that point. 10 - 15K people all going offline at once. Definitely a new level of something.

A couple of my corps mates and I have gotten podded in the last two days due to an interesting issue. When our ships were destroyed, of course we immediately clicked on a planet/station/whatever to warp our pods out. All of us got the following message: "You are already in warp." Quite the contrary, we were not in warp, and in each case, our pods sat there, saying we were already warping out, while we were targeted and podded. That stings when you've got a full set of +4s. I realize the CCP is running on of the largest MMOs in the world off of one mega-server, and that there are bound to be performance issues with such an ambitious endeavor. Of course there's going to be lag. So when I lag out in a lvl 4 mission, and by the time the lag is overwith the whole complex is agro'd on me and I'm in hull, I try to be patient. They'll fix it.
Of course our individual CPUs are going to have a huge load, it's just not technologically or financially feasible for CCP to bear the brunt of the proccessing load and still give us such a cool game for only 14.95 a month. I bought a new dual core laptop specifically to play Eve, and it runs fine.

intresting topic heh
750 posts
the game is CPU limted i got an Nvidia 8800 GTX the game is 2-3 yrs old now ? between 50-80 FPS and thats just in space or in dock no action
more ships objects on screen more loss in FPS (i guess the game has to render the game useing the CPU not the GPU), but server lag is there as more ships are there more lag as the server has to keep up (one of the nodes)
did'nt thay upgrade the servers up to 64-bit code yet ?

I'm not sure if the game is CPU limited, see this thread:
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=436989
He's got a far better CPU than me, and a loosely comparable video card, yet he gets the same FPS.
Your 8800 should be beyond excellent in any game (at least for a year or so), let alone with Eve.
