I should have been clearer apologies - it's a brand new fresh install, not even 24 hours old.

It doesn't matter if your machine hasn't changed - users should always update their drivers, or atleast check for newer drivers for hardware once a month. This is a MUST, not something you can shrug off. ---

Instead of pointing out stuff that isn't relevant to his current problem, how about answering his question. The obvious answer being that the Eve client is indeed generally slower since the Revelations patch.

Edited by: Sev Stormveil on 29/01/2007 12:28:18 Edited by: Sev Stormveil on 29/01/2007 12:27:51 OK I'm going to put it in very unequivocal absolute terms.
* On Saturday I wiped and formatted my hard drive. * Re-installed Windows and added every single update from Windows Update * Installed the latest drivers for my graphic card from the manufacturers website * Installed the latest drivers for my sound card from the manufacturers website * I've done everything else you could possibly do to make your PC stable and up to date. * No new apps on the system since November and certainly nothing new running in the background. * I have run countless system checks on hardware and software with no errors right up to the temperature and fan speed of my hardware. * Finally I downloaded and installed the latest build of Eve directly from this website.
I'm sorry to sound like a smart-alec or rude by listing everything like that but, honestly, I just want to know if this is a recognised problem by CCP and if a fix is coming. I've given them my money this month which is money wasted. If a fix is coming in 3 months, frankly I'll find something better to do. If it's not coming at all, then I'd like to know it now before I waste even more of my time trouble-shooting their game.
Either this game has considerably more players and the server can't take it since November or there's a patching problem - I cannot stress enough that there is absolutely nothing new, broken, or malfunctioning on my system. If anything it is in considerably better shape for the game since cleaning it out and reinstalling.
I've also tried every FPS and diagnostic tip on these forums over the weekend.
To be honest, all I want to know is whether this is being investigated or not - from there I can make a decision and potentially save myself from a grab big time-consuming pain in the a*se that leaves me no better off than when I began.

There is some glimmer of hope that the graphics engine rewrite for DX10 will remedy this but don't hold your breath as this will be some years off and may not be the whole reason for such poor framerates. Indeed, it'll likely be even worse framerate given CCP's past track record.
I'm not impressed either - as you can prolly tell. The client software's job is to be a game terminal and to that end presentation is pretty much it's sole function and, to me atleast, decent and steady framerate is number one on the list of presentation factors. Bottom of the list is glossy looks.

Edited by: Sev Stormveil on 30/01/2007 12:06:36 The last conversation I had with tech support included a suggestion from them that today's extended patching may fix the problem with the seamless map.
I would be very pleased to hear from anyone who can check this once the patching's over and then post on here - I hardly dare get my hopes up though...

Maybe newer isn't better... my comp is a little over 2 years old, and I just recently have gotten into EVE. The only issue I have come across is that my pre-fab SB Live doesn't like the game... I don't have any visual errors, no crashes, nothing, as long as I have sound disabled... and as that doesn't take anything away from the game imo, is perfectly livable... besides, even though the music in-game is awesome, I can always run winamp radio in the background...
And if you want to whine about lag you should really try some other MMO's first, you really don't have anything to gripe about

And you should really learn to read the whole story before posting....
Game worked perfectly 2 months ago, doesn't work now. And it's not lag.
Unfortunately the patch yesterday didn't improve anything for me, I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had any improvements.
