2 peoples in gang (different coporations). Leader shot down some NPCs. Leader left system or docked -> the others are unable to use tractor beam on the cargos?
Bad feature or bug?

Due to the way our gang system is currently written, it is impractical to ask 'is this person in the same gang as me' without dipping to the database, instead we have to ask 'is this person in the same solar system and in the same gang as me'. And this is a consistent approach taken in a lot of gang related behaviour, including gang modifiers (but for different reasons).
Blah blah blah, etc.. this is a feature. But it is more that the leader is no longer in the gang, and therefore it cannot recognise that you have implicit permission to do what you are trying to.

I've noticed it too, but it's not all bad.
I can certainly see the downside to going gang stuff when your leader isn't about.

claim leadership or before gang leader leaves make sure he makes someone else leader not sure it would work for the op as for tractoring cans if the cans are the leaders and that player has gone/logged you may have an issue, would need to test it and see.

Edited by: Rawr Cristina on 14/09/2006 22:33:15 only thing that bugs me is that things like armor HP modifiers can cause nasty accidents when removed. i was messing about once with some ppl and accidently got their battleship to 15% structure or so, and someone in gang had armored warfare level 5. as he was the gang leader he got a little upset and kicked everyone from the gang... the armor bonus got taken off, but since he had no armor left it put his total hitpoints into negative and well... he exploded :S
same thing would have happened if that person docked or left the system or logged...

There is another nasty side effect of this though (unless it's changed in the last few months).
You can destroy the cans that belong to other members of your gang(i.e. if they are full of illegals you don't want).
If your gang member leaves the system though then you get concorded for doing what you have just been doing fine...
