We make a point of posting all lossmails; anyone who makes a habit of not posting them gets put into the box with Dave for a day or two
It's handy to know how well you're actually doing in terms of efficiency as well as what ships and weapons your enemies tend to use. That's why eve-killboard is so cool; killmails that your enemies post on their board section appear as losses in yours. It's a real shame that rig0r has decided to leave the game and shut it down. -----

In Coreli Corporation, everyone is entitled to post all their kills and loss, failure to do that will ultimatly lead to a boot :) An eye for an eye make a whole world blind.

Posting of Killmails (which ascribe to both kills and losses) is 100% voluntary. However, if you choose to take part in the posting of either, it's typically a rule that if you want to post mails showing how uber a killer you are, then you have enough integrity and honor to post your loss mails.
The only exception being, you don't post non-pvp mails when you lose a ship to say Concordoken or Factionization.

if you lose a ship why would you want to post your death and advertise your setup to people who want to kill you and then know exactly how to counter it...... i say its more of a tactical thing more than pride

Has it not occured to anyone that you give future enemies the loadout of your ship by posting your losses?
Posting losses will eventually shoot you in the foot, particularly if you are a pirate being stalked.
Well since someone killed you, your lost will already be posted as a kill.
If you are worried about having all your losses in one place (your killboard) then make it private for corp/alliance eyes only.

I post both, even the Velator I lost the other day. I would feel I'm cheeting myself and corp mates if I don't post everything. If one day I'm top or even in the top 10 on the bored it will be because I've PVP'd well and not because I'm a liar.

If you post kills you should post losses aswell. Easy enough imho.
I do however know of a certain pirate alliance that posts max 50% of their losses. I guess it makes them feel strong and great but it just looks sad.

I love my kill mails, however i hate my losses mail but even I post both as at the end of the day you can lie to others but you can not lie to your self. What you must also remember is that there are quite a few kill boards so the mail may only be posted on one but not the rest.

I post both, but I find that my opponents post them faster than I can put them up :P
Additionally I only post my mails both kill and loss when I'm ready to delete them from my evemail, so I tend to hang on to my lossmails a little longer than my killmails just for reference. It's easier referring to them in game than having to go OOG just to find out when I was killed last, by whom, and with what weapon.
Because I said so...

It is tactically foolish to post your losses as you're informing your enemy about your ship fittings and flying habbits. I know that I inspect my enemy's losses on battleclinic to get an idea of what I'm up against.

Fair enough, but then you shouldn't post your kills either, right? They give enough information themeselves.

Flawed argument since you already have given away same info by posting killmails.

Originally by: Buraken v2 So, is this how it works? You only post your killmails but you are not supposed to, or dont have to, post your lossmails? Rather it is the killers job to post the killmails (i.e your lossmail) is this the general consensus of the EVE killboards?
Do YOU post your killmails but never your lossmails because you think that its not your "job" to do so?
Trinity Nova posts all killmails, both the good and bad variety. The only exception are noob ships, which are disregarded by our killboard stats anyway so we dont require pilots to post them.
Anyone finding a discrepancy with our killboard is encouraged to contact Tyto, Sergej, Tecor, or myself.

Another reason Not to use public killboards. Our Killboards show what the victims have lost and had fitted but Our lose mails only show what ship we lost and who killed us. I agree that you dont want the enemy to find out your setups but simply looking though afew killboards.

I wonder who that is...
Excuses some entities use for this policy is "not to show everyone where pipes are to gank haulers", "not to show everyone where to go to gank miners", "not to show everyone what setups people usually user", "it's a killboard, not a lossboard".
All BS.
However, many entities that do post losses, only post about 50-60% of them. So imho, anyone who does post losses should make every effort possible to ensure both kills and losses are up to date as possible.
Personally it irks me just as much to not post anything at all as it does looking at enemys board where the ship I just loss is shown by the person who did the last blow, but the same final blow guy who got it seconds later shows no losses at all... I mean you can't say "haven't got around to posting it yet" excuse...

But yes I agree most should post up their kms gives you acurate loses give you intel and others can learn from them.

Edited by: Tarnish Katharr on 16/09/2006 12:29:40 Our members are encouraged to post both. Loss mails give valuable info such as quickly letting you know what the gang that just wasted you is composed off, allowing the retaliatory gang to prepare appropriate EW. It can show problem systems that need more attention from our roaming PvPers.
Also allows us to laugh at a certain alliance we've recently been fighting that modifies their killmails.
